He has repetitive behaviours : open & close the drawer at 2yo. (back then I thought he is explorering how drawers works.)_ lol.

No Index finger pointing & share interest at 2yo (according to physcologist) at 1.5yo, kids should have this index finger pointing very much already.)
Always “self-service” to take things that he want at 2yo
Sensory issue: He cant stand drillings of walls & vacumm cleaner sound at 2 yo
Did not response to him name at 2yo…

So these are the basis of classified my son is Autistic at 2yo or PDD NOS

                  Hi all,

I m feeling happy today because I just found out that as an alumni of my defunct Pri sch, my kids are applicable for phases 2A2 P1 registrstion in one the pri schools very near my plc. This means they hv a guaranteed slot in the sch and I can be spared from the stress of balloting or PV. Although the sch is not the most popular on the neighborhood, I read from this forum that is actually not bad, seems like the sch n teachers hv heart to help poorer students. N most imptly, the sch has a b4/after student care service run by YWCA , which I will need to send my kids to intone to come since both hubby n I are working. I just check the sch’s website, it’s special resources seems comprehensive enough. Now, I pray that my boy can enter mainstream education when the time comes.

On my boy, the therapists said that he seems distracted these two weeks. Ask him to do a task, he went off topic n talk about other things for a while before returning to his task. Hiaz, well there’s always ups n downs, if all good all the time, then he wouldn’t be ASD already right? But on the other hand, the therapists observed that he can now take two steps instructions pretty well, just need to give him some time to process the info.

                    mashy:
Why are u against an IQ test?....I suppose if they get a low IQ score then they will advise the parents to go to special needs school rather than a mainstream.

                    Hi mashy,

Precisely because of its consequences and what you just shared also confirmed my doubts. Like they could not even give your kid a score and at the end of the day they got to deduce based on overall.

My son's therapist shared with me about one kid she is teaching now (going P2 next year) whom at 4/5 yo went for an IQ test at KKH and because during the 3 hours of test he did not cooperate and did not do well, got a diagnosis of \"Mentally Retarded\". His mother cried like hell and thought it was all doomed. Then went to this therapist who worked with this boy one-on-one early intervention. Boy's mother decided to defer his P1 by one year to train her boy up. Now 3 years later, this boy is attending mainstream primary one and did so well he did not even need a shadow teacher! The therapist said he got no problems doing his school work at all after all the training the past years. 😓

I am really skeptical about the whole IQ test thing, especially on young kids. By the way, one pyschologist did try to do the IQ test with my boy when he was about 4 as part of the observation package and he was totally uncooperative. Got to abandon the test. Problem is we already paid for it hence :moneyflies:

Another way to answer the question why I am against the IQ test is to ask back another question: - why are parents against streaming at P3? The reasons why parents are against streaming at P3 would be very similar to the reasons why I am against the IQ test. 🤷
