Wintersoul15:
S-formation: ( if I am not wrong, is like this) the school system rank all P2 pupils from first to last. Then \" take out\" top 160, according to internal criteria. Some schools use only English n math for streaming, mother tongue planned another way bc of teachers allocation. Some schools use all 3 subjects, (nanyang uses all 3, since MT is only Chinese). Then top pupil goes to first class, second pupil goes to second class.... So in this case, the 5th pupil will join first class, 6th pupil second class...until 160. Which is why all teachers in the level must sit together, bc pupils are all \" mixed up\" n needs time to prepare new name list. This requires a lot of time.
Hello, I have PM you. -

Let me have a shot at explaining the P5 (2012) batch. Total 14 classes = (4 GEP classes + 2 META classes) + [4 HA classes + 4 MA classes]. Note the ( ) and [ ].
META classes are Pri 5I and 5J. GEP classes are Pri 5K,L,M,N. This is called also known as "Expert classes" grouping because the EL, M, Sci syllabus is different for GEP (+SS) & META. Therefore, "Expert". The high achiever awards are also based on the scored in these classes.
For all other classes (HCL, Art, excursion, music, etc), these 6 classes are mixed into "Home" classes… I think into Pri 5 Respect, Resilience, etc… The ratio of GEP to META per class have already been covered earlier by other parents.
Come Pri 6, The GEP & META students may not be en-bloc, there may still be minor rotations within KLMN (for gep) and IJ (for META) - aka expert classes. Similarly, the students in their home class (resilience, respect, etc) may also be adjusted. I believe this will be to group the students in those stronger in languages and M/Sci so that it will be easier to focus on their relative weakness for targeted improvement.
Promotion for mainstream P5 is enbloc.
Hope this will provide some clarity. -
Can I seek advice where I should put the name tag for the girl’s uniform? On top of the words "南洋"?
Just want to make sure for the girl since previous kid in the school is a boy. Thanks. -
Explanation is crystal clear. Thank you.

I m trying to understand the various classes at NYPS. For lower pri, there are HA and MA. For upper pri, there are GEP, META and mainstream. Is this correct?

P1 & P2: no differentiation
P3: 4 HA classes, the rest are MA classes
P4 to P6: 4 GEP, 2 META, 4 HA, 4 MA classes -

I thought there are only 2 HA classes from P4 to P6 as many P3 HA students join the GEP and META classes in P4. No?MumandMe:
