Quality passes percentage counts if one were to look at academic achievement and improvement, not just one or two high scorers.

Correct. I hope schools are still allowed to publish this?

I have shared this in the other PSLE thread…

In my opinion, not releasing the name of the scorer can indeed reduce the stress, BUT it’s the unnecessary stress that the scorer will face in future. When results are announced , the parents and child will be revelling in the merriment and celebration, but what happens after that?

The child will face tremendous pressure of carrying that coveted label whereby his every performance will be scrutinised and the fact that he has to live up to the expectations. How will he feel if he did not repeat the feat in sec school? The child may just be happy to know his scores, not necessarily if he’s at the top.

Unlike well-known sportsmen , musicians etc in a competition, they know they have to bear with the scrutiny and being in the limelight, a 12 year old child did not ask for this publicity and may not handle it well.
perhaps I’m just thinking too much… only by interviewing the past top scorers will we have a better idea of how they feel.

That’s why I feel celebrations by his school will suffice.

So my post on another thread is deemed as a factor to undermine my post in this thread?
                    KSP logic?

Who wants to see another lock/embargo thread?
                    Pls raise up your hands.

At first when I saw the news, I were thinking like what other parent, what wrong with publishing, shouldn't it be a celebration?

After some thought, my thinking is the same as you. It will be STRESSFUL for the top scorer in future if they can't keep up their performance and it will be tiring to keep up too.
