Appeal Secondary One Posting

Have anyone tried to appeal to more than 1 school? Also, it is indicated in the PSLE booklet that it is merit over choice so does it mean that I can choose the schools with a higher COP as my top choices and the ones which I am within the COP range in the lower choices. Unfortunately in the very sad situation of being chosen instead of being able to choose.

Normally, with 1 or 2 points away from COP, a child will have high chance to win appeal, however, if a child has extraordinary talents in any areas will be great help in the process of appealing.

Each year the COP for a school changes (+/- 1 or 2 points) depending the number of student who selects the 1st option for the popular school.

So how do you guess whether 1 or 2 point below the previous year's COP you will get selected or not? If not selected, how what schools will appeal likely to work?

Are they schools like MGS, Cedar, ACS(I) where appeals are unlikely to work because there are just too many students having the same COP mark? Appreciate your experiences... thanks.

Yes. A friend's dd had scored 242 in 2010. The cop that yr was 243. Her 1st choice was cedar and 2nd was crescent. She was posted to another school and appealed to crescent. Same day afternoon, her appeal was successful
