Lets say that a pupil is very smart but during the exam periods he was playing computer a little bit . And then got low marks. His parents is very upset.Any way to make the pupil and his parents fell better?

I agree that the purpose of GEP is not to groom the kids to ace PSLE. When most kids get selected into GEP are doing reasonably well academically, many are not the top achievers in P3. GEP provides a different platform for those kids that learn differently. It is just like we, the taxpayers, have spend so much for the Pathlight School so that a group of kids can be benefittedand. They can eventually contribute back to the society.

I don't have statistics but I can tell u many of them r prc!
With no statistics, how do you conclude that \"many of them r prc\"? I think we should refrain from making such baseless statements.
Do you have statistics on how many of these top scoring students are true blue 12 year old locals?sinoboy:
Gepper r well prepared for scoring psle!! >90% top scorer with 270's in nanyang n also the one who scored 285 r gepper !
In fact, geppers r more well prepared than mainstreamers! Both mainstreamers n geppers prepared psle at the same time in their p6 in around July!! -

So older = smarter = can do better in PSLE???octoberbaby:
The school nearby my residence, top PSLE scorer is from a country with one billion population and 14 years old.
There are two countries with one billion population or more. Which one?
But either one, a lot of locals cannot beat as they are older. Hope they look seriously into this inequality.
Regardless of the nationality, no one likes to be older than the rest of the classmates. -

I recalled that I was obsessed with tetris (those brick games) during my \"O\" levels.... I was top in class and as a result of that, I dropped to third and didn't do as well.... Well... it's been 20+ years and I still remember this...
I guess the pupil and parents have to move on. PSLE is only the 1st national exam in a child's life. There are many more to come. So long as the child learn from this experience and made sure he/she don't make the same mistake. It's fine. Don't be too harsh on oneself. -

Many in Nanyang knows many of them are PRC but just don't have the exact figure to tell you lo as the school is not showing the data. I never said they are older kids but I just said many are PRC. 'Many' is subjective. To some it may not be many but to some, it may be many.

Learning Lab charges $1000 per subject per mth and they only accept students who come in the first 10% in their sch exams. my colleague's son was rejected as he was not from his school's top class.
err.. the free is not quite true la... S1000 per subject per term (NOT month la)la. -

How many GEP students get offered DSA in RI (for eg) compared to number of students offered DSA under music or art? For either music or art, usually only 1 or 2 each year. Many more accepted under GEP, right? That's why it's rare for anyone to complain about those other domains, I'd think? Even the number offered under sports is a smaller number comparatively.]
In that vein, then we might as well call for DSA to be scrapped for athletes, musicians, etc. Also 'unfair' advantage for them right?
This is an interesting phenomenon. I observe, so far, no calls to scrap DSA through other domains. No one quibbles about their 'rights'. Only geppers are targeted... hmmm. Intellectual prowess (for want of a better description) vs other talents... and schools should only welcome talents other than geppers with open arms? Otherwise they are deemed as discriminating against mainstreamers. :yikes: And that will be unacceptable! Cos, you know, they are the majority... -

I knew at least one GEPPers scored 252. but she has two DSA COs, so the score does not matter.clay569:
That's why they got into GEP in the first place...
See that is the problem! When I asked why many geppers can't score well though some did very well! The geppers' mom will jump n say the geppers r not prepared for scoring psle!! R u saying they r not truly gifted? -
Gentle reminder to all. Do not turn this thread into a GEP vs mainstream discussion. Thank you.
