      Hi,

Is there anyone with recent experience hiring an indo maid on their own? Within these 2 months?

        Hi,

it is possible, you can skip the agency and hire directly from Indon, but you must know the quality of that maid you want to hire, this website guide you how to hire step by step:

        http://singaporemaid.blogspot.sg/2010/03/maids-available-for-transfer.html

scoll down to the session under - Hiring a maid without an agency.

        Hope that helps 🙂

Tks for the info. I’ve looked thru mths ago and realised it’s so easy and affordable.

Did u have any recent experience?

I called indo embassy two months ago, in fact twice, the officer said yes, can do direct. Today I called, another officer said changed, can’t do direct, need agency. So confusing!

In the past you can direct hire but now the Indonesian govt stepped in to bar direct hire. It was reported in the papers.

                no longer possible

call up 10 agencies like someone did here, and see who charge the cheapest
they only need to do paperwork, so should give 50% discount at least

Hi Hi, so is it still possible to direct hire?

or we have to die die go thru the agent???

My indo maid wanted to come back and I was told by her sister who is working in maid agency in Indo that SGD 2000 is required for insurance + airfare + recommendation. Is that true?

It is possible and easy to do a direct hire yourself. I just did it few months back. Just make sure u have a maid who is willing and ready to come over. Just a few clicks on MOM website, send them the air ticket, pick them from airport then complete the rest of formalities after they arrive. Choose a maid who work here before so they can skip a lot of the formalities, which makes it easier for them and for us as employer. Get them to get a passport to come in as tourist, not as domestic helper. Indonesia issues two type of passport. One for domestic maid(thinner less pages), the other for general population going away for holiday(thicker more pages). Tell them not to go through any agency in indo but direct apply for passport as someone coming for holiday. At indo side only need to indicate destination, and say they are visiting for holiday only, do not reveal any other document. Else indo official will make it difficult for them to leave indo. All MOM document faxed to them should be revealed only upon arrival at SG. My only cost was air ticket, less than $200(budget airline) and MOM fees for work permit card and medical for maid, also less than $100/200 ( cant remember) in total. Upon arrival, only bring to medical, them to MOM once on a sat morning, and all done. No courses to attend or course fee to be paid coz ex SG maid. No loan for maid to pay. No agency to deal with. U set your own terms and condition of employment and not agency term and condition

Will there be any problem when the maid goes back Indonesia after 2 years?

How many years is the tourist passport valid for?

How much does the maid pay for the passport?
Did she have to pay any exit taxes when leaving Indonesia?
