WorryDad:
Heard Christ Church has been improving the last few years. You can also consider Admiralty and Canberra. What is your daughter interested in in terms of CCA?Apologies to use your thread.
I am current station at US and my daughter just got her result and was reflected as 206. My family is living in yishun.
Is there any School that i can consider? I am looking at Christ Church Secondary School any remark on that?
Thanks for your post as i too also considering of let my daughter going into the normal stream. But this post enlighten me. -

I have some personal friend(s) who failed PSLE many years ago, got retained by school to repeat PSLE, back in those days. That was when the WAKE UP call came - hit him real hard & and painful ! All his classmates went up to Secondary One, except him. Finally he understood that he must work hard, be determined and set his own personal goal(s) and target. He understood that it is all in the state of his mind. Given a second chance, he became more mature, cleared PSLE second time and proceed to Secondary school. From there, went onto polytechnic and topped his class of poly students in Engineering. Then proceed to NTU, and obtained 2nd Uppper Honours. Now, he's doing well.phtthp:
Janet,
pls let your son go Express - since he already qualified. Don't go Normal stream. My niece no choice can only go Normal.
at end of Sec 4, review again. After Sec 4, if you and yr husb think is better route for him to go poly, then let him go poly. From poly, can still end up in NTU later on. Nothing is impossible. But Sec 1 to 4 - pls stick to Express !
when he look back now, what is PSLE all about ? Nothing, just a piece of paper. But what usefulness or lesson did PSLE bring for your son ? It's going to make him more mature! Believe in your son. Trust him ! He will sit up, take notice, pay attention, sit down by the roadside, ponder upon his past. He is still very young, only 12 years old. So after reflecting long enough - he will pick himself up, set new personal goal(s), new objectives and target for himself this time round - as the new year 2013 dawn upon him, as he proceed onto to Secondary school life. A new chapter in his life is going to embrace him - opening up brand new opportunities, golden new horizon of learning beconing him. This time, he will soar on wings like eagle. -

my son is doing fine. he is taking his o levels this year.
psle is an exam which is hard to gauge. as parents, we can prepare the child to the best of our ability...but as it is a national exam, we really don't know how the grades are moderated nation wide. anyway, i have a daughter taking psle this year. -

Thanks, janet88. So is Sec 1 math really easy than psle math? How was your boy coping when he was in sec 1? Was he happy with his allocated sch (dream or not dream sch)?nonKiasu:

sec 1 math doesn't have models...but i wouldn't consider easy because it's secondary 1 after all. he did struggle for a few months in sec 1 with 8 subjects, facing class tests and common tests every other week. not to mention CCA and supplementary lessons after school. oh yes, there were projects and have to meet up with classmates as well.
2nd time facing psle, yes. but different child and different capabilities, so as good as first time sitting for it.
