Hi Everyone !
I am seriously considering Maris Stella High school for my son.
Can anyone tell me more about the school situation now.
Are the teachers there dedicated ? willing to go extra mile for their students ?
Is the new principal pushing the schoolโs standard up ?
I sincerely appreciate someone out here to share with me their experience with Maris Stella expecially in the last 2 years 2010-2012.
Hope to hear from someone soon as I have to submit the school choice in 3 daysโ time .
Thank you very much. -
Hi there, Iโm currently a Sec 3 student of this school, Sec 4 in 2013. What I can say is, the Principal definitely brought up the standard. He introduced more incentives, programmes which benefited everyone.
Having been from the primary school, I can safely assure you that there has been significant changes in the school environment. The school boasts many study rooms for students to revise on their work after curriculum time. Students can make consultation sessions with teachers too.
The teachers here are really helpful. I was struggling with my schoolwork and my teachers would kindly stay back in school just to help me. Furthermore, he even gave me his number to contact him should I need any help, even during weekends. The school has been working very hard to strive for excellence academically. The Principal tries his very best to motivate teachers to put in their utmost efforts to teach students.
The PSG of the school are also very supportive. They provide refreshments to students during Night Study sessions organised by the school, among other things as well.
Overall, I must say that Iโm proud to be a Marist and Maris Stella is like my second home.
Should you require have any more quires, feel free to contact me. -
Hi SunBrazen,
1) May i ask whatโs the official start time in MSHS?
2) Are Hps allowed?
3) How many classes of Sec 1โs are there every year? -

Hi SunBrazen,
Thanks for the reassurance you have given to us parents who wanted to send our boys to MS.
May i ask does MS emphasise alot on Chinese language (Express Chinese/HMT)? As i can see Chinese Language is not that strong in MS as compared to other subjects?
Thanks alot

Does Marist need to take up compulsory Conversational Malay lessons? -
Connecting the dots:
1) Morning assembly starts at 7.30am, Lessons begin at 8am. With the exception of Thursdays, where morning assembly begins at 8.40amHi SunBrazen,

3) How many classes of Sec 1's are there every year?
2) Yes, HPs are allowed. However, they can only be used during recess and after school at the canteen or front porch.
3) There are usually 9 classes of 40 students. 2 classes offer HCL -

Being a SAP school, the school emphasises alot on Chinese and Chinese Culture. For instance, we have Chinese Culture lessons. However, the school is mainly stronger in Maths and Science subjects.SunBrazen:

Does Marist need to take up compulsory Conversational Malay lessons?[/quote]Yes. It's actually really helpful for us, knowing basic Malay like the numbers and simple greetings. -
Hi SunBlazen,

I hope my son will enjoy life as a Marist
