i dun think it will exceed for SJI since its now at 238, if it really does exceed, then only those from feeder schools will get a place by merit and no one from non feeder will get a placeemoh:
I think this is how it works, all those from feeder schools with 238 and above who choose SJI O level track as first choice would automatically be given a place in SJI unless the numbers exceeds the total number of available places for O level track. ....
If the number exceeds, the allocation will be based on merit, right ? meaning those from feeder eg. 239 will get a place and the COP will then go up. Hence, all those with affilation will compete within the affilated group.
if u look carefully at some other schools like ACS(B) and PLMGS previously, they do not take in students from non feeder schools, their express affilation COP is more than 188. -

Previously in 2006 when SJI cut off for affiliation was 230, the non-affiliation cut off was 244. So likely scenario would be the non-affiliation cut off moving up.

I doubt there are that many from the feeder schools with 238 and above applying for SJI O Level track, would need 255 boys to fill up all the O level track places. Do note that 2 of the feeder schools are co-ed too. -
In previous yrs, 40% of 480 students were fr feeder sch, that was ard 192. If the same no. of feeder students gotton into SJI next yr, that leaves ard 128 for non affiliation. Is this estimation reasonable?

SJI intake is 380 because each class is around 32 students, the benefits of being an independent school.
Do not forget that some of the feeder school boys would be moving on to the IP track too. A rough estimate could be still around 40% of the 255 places for O level track would be from feeder, leaving 60% of the 255 left for non affiliation. -

I see. For CHS, the principal stated the affilation and non-affilation are two different pools ie. they have a fixed percentage of seats allocated to each pool....if it really does exceed, then only those from feeder schools will get a place by merit and no one from non feeder will get a place

I see your point about ACS(B) and PLMGS. -

I think this is likely scenario too for the Olevel track COP. Deadline is 3pm today and we'll all know on 19Dec ! Thanks emoh for all your help. -
Can anyone advise if the school uniform has a thinner material? We bought the school uniform and I find that the shirt is really thick and "unbreathable". I think is made of cotton but it really is uncomfortable.
Do the students wear SJI logo-ed socks or plain socks are fine. Thanks! -

Socks can be plain white, no need sji logo. However no ankle socks allowed.
As for the uniform, maybe try a size bigger? I'm not sure whats wrong with the material, the ones my sons have are fine. -

Thanks! I am not sure how to describe the material but the shirt is heavier and thicker than the usual shirt that my DS wore in his primary school. More thread count?Zekezachzoom:
