Please help in this Synthesis and Transformation problems. Are both answers correct?


Question A: The English book is not mine. The Chinese book is not mine either.
Answer 1: Neither the English nor the Chinese book is mine.
Answer 2: Neither the English book nor the Chinese book is mine.

Question B: The children have not completed their English assignment. They have not completed their Science assignment.
Answer 1: The children have completed neither their English nor Science assignment.
Answer 2: The children have completed neither their English nor their Science assignment.

Question I can eat at the Vietnamese restaurant. I can eat at the Chinese restaurant.
Answer 1: I can eat at either the Vietnamese or the Chinese restaurant.
Answer 2: I can eat at either the Vietnamese restaurant or the Chinese restaurant.

For A and C you can answer either way as they are all grammatically correct.. However I like the first answers because of their brevity.

But for B, I would just go with answer 2 or just

'The children have completed neither English nor Science assignment.'

The given answer is correct I believe. Man I remember hating synthesis in primary school. I had tuition for english solely on synthesis.

The second answer is fine, except for the missing punctuation. It should be

The girl was reprimanded, for she did not obey her parents.
