All About Kids' Gaming: Addiction, What Age Is Suitable, etc

for psp, i won't buy for them for its cost (paisay hor, i am usually a scrooge if it comes to spending on unnecessary stuff, so much so that on the day when i brought ds1 on a shopping 'spree' in a stationary shop - when i don't question any of his purchases that is within the budget - he told me that he felt that he was dreaming...), but will welcome it if anyone wants to gift it to them.

..but too much gaming is bad regardless of age.
I agree totally! But my DH... arrghhh!... dug out research that says gaming may help prevent/delay onset of Alzheimer's/etc in old folks

jedamum, ask for Nintendo DS lah, if you have a nice Santa Claus around. I think the games are more appropriate for younger kids. -

Geez... your DH puts up tough arguments.
Scientific reasoning wor.. Christmas round
the corner... sooo... what's the eventual

I wont buy psp, nintendo DS, or any other portable gaming device for my DS ..... my DW will kill me if I do.
actually I do agree with my DW that most kids with such devices lack \"EQ\", those don't socialize with others, just engrosed with their gaming. thus we are not getting any for our DS.
luckily, DS has not asked for one despite the fact that all his cousins owned them.
hopefully, he will not be pressurized by his peers when he goes P1 next month. -
Try mahjong instead hehe.
Well, playing mahjong in moderation is really good for physically and mental development for the elderly. Due to operations, my mum was once very slow in her reflex and constantly complains of aches.
When we first started her on the game 2 years back, she would not be able to stack her tiles fast, constantly dropping them, and would not be able to stretch her hands far enough.
Now, she has improved tremendously. I must qualify that we don't indulge in the game. We play about 2 times a month, on sat night when my DS is going to bed.clarabella:

I am also hoping that my DS would not be pressurized, not that all his cousins have xbox/psp/ipod/gameboy/facebook account/...

Ha.ha I'm also having the same problem. Hope DS enter P1 won't be pressurised to have PSP.
BTW, can kids bring PSP to school? -
Not allowed but no one can stop them from hiding them in school bags and only dishing them out when they are in school bus or bus-stops. It's a common sight at the bus-stops outside the school
Theft is also common in schools as the bags are often left in classrooms during recess. Eyes would be roaming around for things that their classmates. So this could be a way to educate the children the danger of bringing them to school. Hopefully this would deter those who want to sneak them out of the house to school.titank:
