Ah Juan:
Hi Peeps,
I know my request maybe coming in slightly late.
My son is joining KCPPS P1 next year, however, I am facing difficulties with the bus vendor, as I am staying at Gerald Crescent (near Junction of Hougang & AMK Ave 5, near Sea Gate) which is also near to Fernvale at Seng Kang West.
The main school bus operator said that they are full and there is another operator, who demands a high fee, however, will only drop my child home by 8pm or later everyday.
I have written in to the school but the feedback was slow and also negative, checked with Singapore School Transport Association and also called up MOE and all of them were shocked that my son could only reach home by 8pm each day.
Hence, I would like to check whether there are any parents out there whose kids are in P1 or P2 (aft session) next year and staying around, Yio Chu Kang, Sengkang, Hougang, Serangoon area, who can car pool my son to and fro KCPPS, and i am willing to pay for the transportation ? my main objective is for my son not to reach home as late as 8pm.
Thanks
Troubled Mum a.k.a Mrs Foong

Dear Fellow Parents,
If you do know any KCPPS child and parents, staying in Seng Kang or Hougang or Yio Chu Kang area who drives their kids to & fro school and is not in the forum, could you be so kind to help me check out on the above possibilities ?
Thanks & Regards

Welcome snowcapss and Ah Juan to the forum.

@Ah Juan, I was shocked to hear that the school bus can only send your DS back home by 8pm. It is very late for a primary school kid indeed. I wonder if it is of any help but I read somewhere in the forum, there are parents who engage cabbie driver to send their kids to school. You may want to consider that as your last option to solve your problem. However, I believe the charges will be much higher than taking via school bus. -
Just want to ask for those non-chinese children who wish to take up chinese as MT, can someone please enlighten me on this?

Thanks CMUM,
Thanks for you info, the price will be secondary to the timing my son reaches home, I'm very upset that the transporter vendor can pass remark like, if you can't accept then why not change a school for your son ??? the vendor say they have existing students hence with my additional drop off point, they never attempt to review their routing, and it can only be the last drop off point. My point is, if every year there are new students, they will always be the last to drop off ?? to make things worst they want to charge me $230 and when I proposed to do my own fetching after school, the vendor says can only reduce $20 which I find extremely absurd, my car is not running and water and true it is a standard for all school bus vendor there is no 1 way charges, but look, other people are paying $80 - $100+, half of the amount may not be very significant, but I am paying $230, does she know how much is half the amount ??
I called the school general line, and they just wanted to get rid of me throughout the phone call, by saying that they can't help me to negotiate with the vendor, only until I called the second time then they asked me to write to their generic e-mail, but to my dismay, the school took a long time to revert and in the end, they came back with info which I already know, the reply was still to ask me to talk to the vendor again.
I'm stuck in a delima now, held hostage by this bus vendor the school is engaging, and considering whether to change school, so CMUM, if you happen to know the link or where to contact this cabbie drivers, can let me know ? I also plead to others out there, if you happen to know any KCPPS staying YCK/SK/Hougang area and parents driving or have other means to go to school, please please let me know.
Thanks

actually coming back at 8pm is not unheard of, especially for kids who stay quite a distance from the school.Welcome snowcapss and Ah Juan to the forum.

mrs foong,
next year is quite a sticky situation because the tpt operator is faced with a manifold increase in those requiring tpt. if you are staying in bishan, i believe it will not be much of a problem. but yck/sk/hg is out of the way as there are not many kids staying there.
i know of student care operators who will arrange transport for kids under their care. if your kid is with a student care, i believe some arrangements can be made for a reasonable fee.
since you mentioned the possibility of bringing your kid back yourself after sch, maybe you can consider putting him at a student care in bishan / amk in the morning and arrange for tpt to school with the student care.
the way i see it, the school can do little as this is not exactly under their purview. -
