My 9 years old son likes to play Barbie doll

Buy Ken instead?

Someone reminded me today… things that happen often aren’t 10% as significant as how we react to them when things happen. Perhaps he is trying to nurture an artistic calling? Yes, fashion designer in the making? Instead of Barbie (which I particularly dislike because of its disporpotionate body)… what about a similar toy that allows dress-up? I never had a Barbie growing up, but I did have other dolls and I made them lots of clothes and hats and stuff…

happy to be mum:
Hi WindWind Lim:
I would like to think that this is a phase in his growing years. Surely the addiction will pass as he is exposed to other things in days to come. Be wise when handling this matter. He needs to experience this and then move on. All children grow up differently. Just be patient.
Thank you so much for your opinion. I asked my ds regarding this matter, and he said that he enjoy dress up Barbie doll. My wife agreed to buy a Barbie doll for him this weekend.
I feel that you should not buy a doll for him. Okay, maybe I think too much but if my boys will to ask me and DH to buy a Barbie doll, I think my DH will be super worried. I will be very worried too and will not buy for him.
You see, DH work's exposed him to alot of gays and to him, he always feel gays are in born from young. So if DH ever sense or feel or notice DS likes dolls or behave sissyly, he will try to steer him back being more boy. We have 2 boys and will worried about this issue. It is common but hope our boys will just be normal boys. Luckily so far, DS1 is into boys' games and dislikes disney or Cinderalla, etc
Maybe you have to try to observe your son more and like what I said, I might have think too much ;)
Thank you so much for your opinion. I have the same worry too but my wife is optimistic that our ds will someday become make-up artist or fashion designer.
My ds loves to play Badminton and basketball with his friends. He is not sissy at all.I think this is just a phase in his pre-teen years growing up as the only son of the family. -
I may be completely off but I think the elephant in the room needs to be addressed…
what is wrong with homosexuality?
Will you love your child less if he’s gay? Is your child no longer your child if he’s gay?
