My DS attended Xuelin’s P6 PSLE Preparation Class in Bukit Timah (I registered a few months ago before we got the SA2 Compo result which was quite disappointing even after my son attended Xuelin’s Compo classes since June) which is a holiday programme. It was supposed to be 3.5hrs daily 9am-12.30pm from 17-21 Dec. Today was the first lesson and they finished at 12.00pm instead of 12.30pm!!!

I asked the teacher the reason they finished 30 minutes early. The teacher said there is a typo in the brochure. It is supposed to finish at 12.00pm but when I looked at the brochure that is pasted on the wall, the timing is still stated as 3.5 hours daily 9am-12.30pm. Did they try to kid me? If the timing is changed to 12.00pm, shouldn’t the first thing they need to do is to change the timing written on the brochure pasted on their wall?

My DS also said that the teacher kept coming in and out of the class and there was nothing special about this class. There was no special techniques or tips imparted to handle PSLE questions. The students were asked to do a paper and then the teacher went through the paper. I think it is not worth the $ 420 they charge for 3.5 hours (in reality it is 3 hours) for 5 days.

One good thing is that they refunded me the whole amount after I complained about these right after the lesson.

This is my experience for my DS. I don’t know about other holiday classes at Xuelin but I have withdrawn my DS from Xuelin. I am too disappointed with them. Very expensive and the quality is also not good.

Exactly! DS also feedbacks there seem to be too much free time during lessons and classes always end earlier. Xuelin should consider to add more content in 1 lesson. I really hope to see improvement when lessons resume beginning of next year. I agree that the quality does not match the level of fees. May have to start considering alternative Chinese tuition... ...

            tks. the classes gd?

Absolutely! My P3 has done very well, above 90! I am very pleased. 😉 More importantly, Xuelin knows how to motivate the children. My kids enjoy their classes, especially the K2.

hello, may I know how Xuelin motivate your child? so far, my DS in Xuelin has not experienced the \"motivation\" as described? Could it be due to different teaching style by different teacher? :scratchhead:

              Dear pek.taxi,

How old is your son? My DS told me that younger children may like Xuelin because he always hear children singing or shouting (playing) so they may enjoy Xuelin’s activities.

DS just told me that during the regular classes he attended at Xuelin, sometimes the teacher allowed the students to play handphone or the teacher will play some video just to kill time waiting for the time to release the class. I was shocked to hear this! Had I know this is happening, I will not let him attend the classes at Xuelin for 2 terms! That is $ 1100 gone down the drain… sigh…

Could it be the school posted good reviews themselves? I wonder…

Chief, it is possible to track IP of forummers, right?

DS is in P3. Coincidentally, my friend whose ds also in Xuelin share the same thinking as you. She also felt that Xuelin may have posted good reviews about themselves in this forum. She was full of complaints and may be switching to another centre.

Who to complain to if we think the tuition centre is posting as forummers to give good reviews on their own centres? Police? CASE?
