I never knew those primary 2 boys could be quite daring to do this heinous act! Yet the primary 1 boy who got attacked and complained to his chinese language teacher, she dare to dismiss him like that! I hope that she will get sacked straightaway!!

Resiliency and Ignore. Gossips are gossips and if they invoke no reaction from the person it is targeted at, it will eventually stop.

The bullies can try my girls - I have equipped them with TKD and they are now junior black belt holders

A-ha! Thanks BlueBells! Had been wondering what CCA to let my girl join next year. But that means I should let me boy join too - otherwise he'll get kicked around by his sister - literally! 😆

I have a concern with younger kids learning martial arts, actually. It's good to teach kids self-confidence, but what if they get good at the martial arts and actually use it on others and cause hurt? Kids may not be able to judge how much force is appropriate and may retaliate with more force than necessary or justified. Having them learn a martial art as a sport is one thing, but to tell them that it's to be used as self-defence against bullies seems to leave too much to their discretion at too young an age. I taught my girls to push with their hands and walk away, and it seems to have been enough. At least the boys who gave them trouble in early Pr school left them alone after a few shoves.[/quote]Ah..I get what you mean, simkhoo. Isn't that what the instructors will 'educate' them on during their lessons? Or have I seen too much Shao Lin and Jacky Chung to believe it is the first thing they are taught in martial arts CCAs?

My DD was bullied when she was in P1 last year. I would like share this incident so parents aware that bullies do happen in pri school and to girls too.

A girl from P3 from morning class lock my DD togehter in the toilet. She get my DD to took off her uniform and she threw them into the dustdin outside the toilet, then she sprayed my DD with water and slap her at least 10 times, put my DD leg in the toilet and flush the toilet. My DD was too young to know how to defend and that was the 1st time someone treated her this way.

My DD was attacked while she was at school in the morning around 10.00 am waiting to attend a supplementary class. She was from afternoon session. The princical called me at 2.30 pm to inform me my girl did not come to school and if she did not come before 3.30 pm (or 4 pm?), she will get zero for her maths. I was shocked and told the principal my maid had sent my DD to school and asked the principal to check the whole school compound. In my heart, I was screaming to the principal that my girl is missing and I don't care a shit on the exam.I get my DS and maid went to search the vicinity around the school and broke down when I called my hubby that our girl was missing. I was worried like hell and start thinking what if someone in the school kidnapped her and we will not see her again. Then it happened my DD was too embrassed to come out of the toilet at the canteen because she's naked. The bully has left her there naked and went back home. Luckily she stay in the toilet too long and decided to peek out the toilet and a canteen operator saw and informed the school staff. The principal told me they searched the whole school except this toilet.

When the principal told me my girl was bullied and found naked in the toilet, my whole body was shaking with anger. My husband & I was so mad that we nearly made police report. But we decided not to as the girl was only 9 yo and we did not want to ruin her future. But we insisted the principal to take actions to ensure the girl will not bully my girl and anyone again. We also demanded to meet the girl's parent to give us a formal apology and ensure us with actions they will take so their girl will not bully again.

Later part, we get to know the girl is from a broken family and taken care by grandparent and maid as her mother needs to work and seldom come home. My maid knows their maid and told me this girl very mischievous and she's act like a queen at home

We met the principal a few times. She arranged the girl and my DD to go for counselling and the girl to go back home immediately after school and not allowed to attend any CCA and supplementary class. She and the girl's form teacher will monitor the girl closely and she told us she has wrote to MOE and it will be a bad record for the girl. The girl's mother was too ashamed to meet us so she just wrote us a letter to apologies and ensure us her girl will not bully again.

My DD had nightmares for few weeks and was too afraid to see the girl again. Luckily, her form teacher was caring and handled my DD emotion well. She not only settled down my DD and took the maths SA1 exam that day and she also made my DD not afraid to go to school after the incident. My DD even scored 100 marks for the exam. As for our part, we tried our best to console her and always talk to her to find out her feelings and how to handle her fears, how to face and handle the bullies if she met one again, etc. Few months later, life went back to normal as my DD starts to be herself again, as happy and lively as ever . She's still afraid to meet the girl at the doorway at the beginning of P2. We told her to be brave. What happened was not her fault and the girl should be the one ashamed to see her. Next year she will be morning class and will get to meet the girls more often. We told her to stay away from her and always stay with her friends during recess. Few months back, she told me she dare to walk pass the girl and she saw the girl was doing some charity work with her classmate. It's good to hear that - my girl finally overcome her fear and the girl is changing to be a better person.

So parents, teach you child to defend themselve before they attend primary school. I was shocked when I heard from my DD how she was treated by a 9yo girl. I thought this kind of actions will only happen in secondary school.

Actually, we also have this concern initially, but all turned out well. We emphasize that TKD is only meant for them to defend themselves, and never to pick a fight with others regardless. Also told them that if they only defend themselves, they will not be in the wrong, but once they start to be on the offensive, then two wrongs don't make a right and all will be punished. Besides, if it happens in the school, they should defend and then report to teacher and not take matters into their own hands. So far, so good. The children didn't spar each other at home, or pick up any fight anywhere.

My concern is because I have 2 girls, and sometimes they need to travel on their own, I have to make sure that they know how to take care of themselves. Oh ... the achivements are also recognised in the primary school CCA so I am happy with it.

 Someone would have to pull me away from this mother and her daughter if I was in your shoes. OK, the TKD lessons are set. But I must ensure the instructors are female if sending my DD.

                      Catddy2002,

Your girl’s case is really quite extreme. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing; and I am glad your girl has moved on.

This is most shocking! :yikes: Thank you for sharing.
May we know what triggered the attack? It would be useful to understand the psyche of the bully.
