Hi, can anyone advice if parents can come on the first day of school, and what is the advised number of CCA trials to take? Say I have been in a school team sport and want to continue, is my chance of getting in high?

I don't think parents came on the first day of school, I know mine didn't. But then again I also went for Reporting Day and stuff on my own, so maybe I'm an exception. The teacher seemed surprised when I asked her if I could submit my forms when school started proper, because my parents weren't there to sign. However, though most parents went during Reporting Day I don't think many did Day 1. Anyway, there'll be a packed program so you won't have much time with them anyway
It depends really on your standard, and performance during the trial, as well as the standard of your school team in primary school (which may affect you standard, in a way). In the sport I had joined, many were from the RGPS school team (one of RGPS's best sports, also, I would say), though not all, but I guess that serves as an indicator?
But anyway I would suggest go in with an open heart. If you've indeed been training some years you stand a good chance, but Secondary school is also not too late to find another passion, we're all still young after all (regardless of what many like to tell us!) As CCAs are generally rather selective there are quite a few disappointments every year, but most grow to love their CCA

Nope, never touched SB ever, though it's a cool sport. And I'm not in sports anymore - crazy me took 3 CCAs, though I've got a friend in 4 (those in my year should know who!) And then maybe because I was tired from the CCA-overload, or maybe because I just didn't have what it takes (like, too physically demanding), my childhood asthma came back and I quit my sport. Now living a nice life with my 2 (really relaxed) CCAs, and that was one of the best choices I've made. I mean, I love sports and all, but I'm not really fit for really competitive ones (I took a different sport in primary school, in school team too, but I ... quit) so I wish our school offered something like, you know, recreational lessons or something

Research studies are lessons about research(lol). It's stuff like conducting interviews, gathering results, presentation skills, blablabla, which will be useful for sec 2 onwards, when everyone has to do RS Projects
On thursday, school starts at 8.30am because of CES block(for appointments with teachers, consultations etc)and on other days of the week it will be the usual 7.25~
