Currently, JH's western dance is on Mon & Sat whereas MEP is on Tue & Thu. When there are more dance practises (e.g. before SYF or Aristal), it may clash.

Well, then just have to arrange with the teachers some how. MEP can clash with CAFE CCA. And there are strange MEP timings like 4pm lesson or 7pm lesson, so will have to see what are the timings of MEP and the timings for the CCA.

I saw from the dean briefing slides that MEP is on Tue and Thu, while cafe is either Monday or Friday.

Also I asked the dean and no there are no music lessons that start at 7pm.

Anyway the slides of dean briefing are on Njc website for download. :D[/quote]Just sharing from our experience that's all. MEP all along on Tue/Thursdays ... Just what timing. Don't think my child had much clashes with CCA . But CCA ends like 7+pm on one of the days - oh well, most schools are the same way. Will be in year 4 MEP soon.

Today need to register the third language in MOE Bishan Language center.

But we also want to join the MEP program.
NJC suggest either MEP or third langauge. Better donot take 2 together.
But we donot know whether can be selected by MEP.

Yes, 3rd Language and MEP days clash, so cannot take together. There is high attrition rate for 3rd Lang, I heard? But then again, some do drop out of MEP after the 2nd year. Students need to sign a 2 year commitment when they join MEP, and another 2yr commitment in Year 3... maybe another in Year 5 if they continue to take MEP lah.

So this year's MEP selection test is 3rd Jan? Last time was only at the start of the school year, and yes, like the other person said, most get through. My child's year, only 1 didn't get through, I think - bc that student wasn't familiar with western theory notation.

\"new_julie\", if you need more information, please just check NJC's Music Department Website:

                http://www.njc.edu.sg/MusicDept/index.html

For your info, NJC is not a MOE MEP center for its Junior High (sec 1-4) music elective programme, but it does follow along the guidelines of the MOE's MEP curriculum. Not being a MOE MEP center does mean there's some flexibility though. To join and withdraw from programme is up to the discretion of the school - NJC, don't need to involve MOE, unlike in other schools that are MOE MEP centers.

Hi, my DS will be joining JH1 next year. Have some questions regarding the CAFE. DS plays the violin. Can he join the String Orchestra? Noticed that the the String Orchestra is not listed under the Performing Arts (as stated in the briefing slides to JH1 on 20th Dec).

Yes, he can join the string orchestra. My child joined from the start of JH1 while going through 3 terms of CAFE CCA as well.

You can contact the Teacher-in-Charge Ms Tang about this.

I'll send you a private message.

=My dd has only grade 2 theory and grade 5 practical for piano so she did nt sign up cos te slides require minimum grade 3 for practical and theory. I did tell her to try but she feels she will be rejected cos shes only grade 2 theory but will be taking grade 5 theory exam next yr. Wll they reject application if she does nt meet with the min requirement?
