Have you let yourself go?

I am lucky to be able to regain my pre-pregnancy weight. After the first baby, I did yoga for about a year. I think that helped to keep the tummy muscle in check. After the second one... it's like a balloon! Sometimes inflated, sometimes not. Nothing more ugly than a thin person with a buldging tummy, I'd say!! Now I exercise once a week.
totally agree!! I went below pre-preg weight both times, but after second, the tummy seems here to stay. ARGH.
lost track of the number of ppl who ask whether i'm expecting #3. sianz. -
I look almost the same like before even after 3 kids (ok older) but something’s in me not as enthusiastic about keeping up as before. Not sure if it is because of age or what (dress so nice also no purpose Liao haha). Do you feel the same?

There’s a kick in dressing up in a new dress/ suit. Have to find a nice style n fitting that you are comfortable in. You are so lucky to be looking the same, post pregnancy.

Hmm... so I did went out and get half a dozen of new dresses.... and then signed up for 2 classes instead of the usual once weekly. Then after all this (and haven't even worn my new dresses).... tummy popping out already. According to my children, apparently I have a \"mei mei\" in my tummy now... so all my efforts down the drain.

always have a positive mindset, and strong-willed discipline in exercising regularly and eating everything in moderation!

stay active, stay happy and you will keep up a good shape. -
Dresses and heels do wonders, with minimum effort. I bought my first dress in 6 years a couple of months back and then, there’s no turning back! Since then till now, I have bought about 20 dresses. These days I am always in dresses. I think the boys at home noticed :boogie:
Not much effort on my part (work out wise) but I find myself walking and standing straighter and taller. Appearance wise, I think it helps when one is standing straight and walking tall.
But still, I hope to pick up some form of sports soon, not in 2013’s resolution though… -
I am not as enthusiastic about making up or dressing up as I was in my twenties, maybe I became complacent or maybe it doesn’t make a difference, of coz I still do make sure I am still presentable but that extra effort to make up and wow others, that sort of disappeared when I start having kids and don go clubbing as much anymore

I know I have let myself go, to an extent. Before having a kid, I would always make sure I was fully made up and in minimum 3 inch heels. I would never go out in shorts and slippers. Then a kid came, and I became a SAHM. Practicality took over and I started being less concerned about my appearance. Plus, it made no sense to wear high heels and a silk dress when I had to carry a baby and a diaper bag and a pram. And after waking up 3 times every night, I just had no energy or desire to apply makeup (plus having to wash everything off after reaching home - what a chore!)
Even though my child is older now (3 years), it’s just not practical to chase after her in heels. I try putting in more effort in how I look but my style is a lot more casual now and those super high heels days are over. Till my child is older at least. -

I totally understand what you are talking about. I was always in heels, nothing less than 3inches until I was 5mths pregnant. At the insistence of my ex boss, I boh pian wore flats.
Not that I was always on full make up before but at least a two way cake and lip stick. After my child was born, nothing was virtually good enoug on my face. Becos I carried my son most of the time (he was never in a pram, always carried or sarong), he was always close to my face. Sometimes he would even rub himself on my face. So, well, how to wear make up without getting smudged? Besides, I so scare my kid got some reaction over those make up.
When one needs to carry a baby, in sg weather, sure sweat. Wearing make up becomes impractical. Letting hair down also not wise cos baby would pull. So I ended up with hair bun, no make up. Duh, don't bother to imagine, I looked very aunty. :stupid: About two years, I was also never in skirts as my kid would \"kick up\" my skirt.
As my son grows older, I carry him lesser. We now walk hand in hand, so I swaet lesser. We blew kisses to each other, since I wear lipstick again. He understands but would still peck my cheeks playfully sometimes. I could also let my hair down, wear earring rings and low but still decent neck line clothes (before that I couldn't without risking having my hair yanked by accident, or tearing my ear loop or exposing my boobs/bra by my child pulling).
The only thing that I still couldn't manage is the 3 inches heels. These days I am always rushing. I just can't risk wearing such heels, make no sense to risk injuring myself. All I could manage was a 2inch and it was already quite hard for me.
Things will get better as the kid grows older. -
Set a little target. My last year’s new year resolution was to go for pedi regularly (medi not practical at all as I need to do household chores like scrubbing toilet, washing, cooking etc). I hit the target - being going to a pedi place about once every four weeks since last year.
This year, my resolution is to go for teeth whitening (ah… My weakness for kopi) and regular facial. Have not been for facial since married… Haiz… Wats stopping me? My choice of facial chain is not conveniently located to fit my schedule…
