How many CCAs do the boys take? How is the school environment like? Are teachers caring and compassionate? Sorry to ask all this but I feel parents with sons already studying in the school can give us a better idea what to expect. Thanks

Are you all interested to go SASS? I can share something if you want to know.
I have 2 boys and they started P1 from the SA junior.

My elder boy did not do very well in PSLE (so sad as we wished him to go SJI initially as we are Catholics) and is in Sec 3 SASS now (express and Science stream) . Since young, he is talkative, non-attentive and mischievous. Teachers may not like him in the Primary schools but I must admit MOST primary school ASIAN teachers CANNOT tolerate non-conformative and non-obedient students. But once in SASS, he changed to someone who is more concerned in studies and more matured. He is more respectful and enjoys the subjects more as compared to Primary schools.The teachers are above my expectation in terms of being communicative, compassionate and understanding. They are very nice and the parents are not so demanding and very down to earth and not the "kan chiong" types as in the branded schools. No more constant scolding and punishment as in Primary schools. The teachers even treat them like friends, talk in level terms and teachers and friends in same facebook group. I saw the teachers made sincere effort in reaching out to them. Of course the school is not so competitive like in RI, Catholic High and SJI where academic results is the ultra-impt. Alot of intersting CCA to choose. I saw some old boys came back to teach with some passion.I just feel that we can choose a place where our son feel belonged and he does not feel outcast as in the top schools. I saw some of his classmates who did not do well in PSLE scoring 200plus and is among the top in cohort now. So a lot depends on the boys . Then other factors like friends and teachers and environment. Friends are variables that our boys have to make life decisions in choosing the right ones. There are naughty ones and good ones every schools. I saw my boys and classmates welcome all boys from other schools and they are not snobs. Once in CCA, they formed strong bonding. If he is the above average in a school, it somehow pushes him to work harder as the aim is more achievable. And this school has JC affiliation ! The JC is rather good. So with CCA and JC, he can deduct a whopping 4 points!!! We can aim high but we must always have a moderate buffer in case my boys did not do well in the exams.

Junior sch and Sec wear different uniforms, Sec 1 & 2 short pants. No donations or unnecessary donations. No preaching of religion for students not in their faith.

The environment is very good,rather new classrooms and big clean canteen with interesting food. The school field is million dollars.They even go to junior school if they need it as they share resources… Some classrooms are aircon. Hall is aircon. We pay normal school fees but the school has great history and is a single gender school ( sorry, I only want single gender school) with JC affiliation. So it is quite a good choice still!

Thank you kokomommy fr the great sharing. My dd has joined SASS this year and was wondering if he chose the right fit as he was the one who chose the school. Feels gud after reading your post.

Hi SA Parents, we just got our boy into SA this year…extremely proud for the first few days… until today when he came back to say there’s a bullying incident.


Its among his sec 1 classmate, I am not surprise, perhaps these boys carried old habits and it will threatened the good culture of the school.

I raised this issue with the hope that it will reach out to the school authority so that it could be addressed before it goes any further.

As parents I felt responsible to share my child experiences so as to preserve the prestige that the school carries.

Hi Le Ann, my son is in 1M, he was not bullied, but he witnessed and felt some bullies characteristic building on some of his peers.


I will be monitoring the situation from afar and verify my son claimed carefully before making approaches.

Thanks Caredaddy for your update... I was somehow worried after reading your posts and told my son to be \"vigilant\" and to let me know if he encounters one.
Your son is in 1M? Do you know how many Sec 1 class are there in SA?

Yes Le Ann we need to have communication open with our son, otherwise, we wont know how to help them. Currently, SA having Sec 1A to 1M…

Which class is your son in?
Today my son got pushed by his friend and abrasion on his knees. The teacher saw the incident and got the other kid into discipline master room for canning. Quite responsive I must say… and after school he witness a fight between sec 1 kids, a senior school mate stop them and brought both kids to the general office, another good and comforting example on school response to such incident, dont you think.
I myself was from a boy’s school, I know the situation very well. To have such response and reaction from school members, I feel comforted.
