All About Preparing For PSLE

Hello parents, I am a P sixer this year and moving on to sec one next year.

I scored quite well for PSLE and would hope that your son/dd can score well too.
Here are some tips to ace math: He must practice!! Never mind the assessment books. You should buy top school exam papers for him to do. you can oso download it online but some of the schools are not available. If you are buying, best recommended that you buy two sets. Finish the whole first set during the June holidays and figure out how to do the questions that he does not know how to do the first time. If possible, ask his tutor and school teachers for the fastest and simplest methods. The second set, you will have to choose some difficult speed, circle and volume questions for him to do, BUT DO NOT DO THE WHOLE SET AGAIN!! he will be drained of brain juice at the end. Next year, when 2013 prelim papers from top schools come out, buy one set, then ask your child to do NYPS and RGS paper, the others, same thing, choose the difficult questions for him to do, then figure out the questions that he does not know how to do...

take a break...the last 2 days of 2012...you will need energy and stamina ahead...you need the breather. i can't offer you any advice but i understand your stress.

My ACTUAL holiday started only on Dec 20...after sec school posting was known you see, though PSLE ended Oct 2, somehow you don't really have peace of mind. After results were known, next worry was the sec school. I wanted so much for him to enter his first choice bcos it is close to home.


I am out everyday...to maximize my freedom until house arrest begins Jan 2.

lol. Understand. Next year my turn. I am so stressed. DH also stressing me to get Younger DS to study more. Sometimes I see him study day and night, i heartpain but then again if he dnt do it, he wont get good results.

When older DS finished his PSLE, I worried so much I even had a nightmare of him failing for his PSLE. The burden on my shoulder was finally dropped only when Sec school posting is out too. I was worrying what if he doesnt get into his choice school. Sigh

talking scolding last resort caning all not working in the end i guess i said the hardest thing any parent can say to their ds or dd I GIVE UP ON YOU!!!


I came home around 10pm alas all my hopes were dash he only did 1 composition the whole day and nothing else, if the hand writing was not that horrible if he did not act like he did not care i will not have blown but i did now i am outside my house taking a breather with a pack of cigg haiz my hubby was stunned to see me say what i did.

Its up to u to think what u want, from my pov as what his teachers has all been drilling PSLE preparation has to start right from pri 5 have a break yes he had he went for a holiday i am not forcing him to study non stop 24/7.

i given him breaks even breaking my own rules like his sch xmas party on the 21st was actually a no go for him cause he did do what i asked from him but i soften and let him go with him promising me he will do what is ask of him, but it was all just empty promises from him.

I have always let him do what he wants but this time is different he need the push i am doing just that not too much not too little.

3 compos in 9hrs i am not asking for much all i want is RESPONSIBILITY.
