Thanks hopes for sharing. DS is going to P3 next year and what I heard from my friends that it might be a shock for them, since P1 and P2 seemed like honeymoon years in school. Also could be due to the fact that there is an extra subject (Science) and also the subjects are "counted" unlike the lower primary. Anything to lookout for P3 pls?

Hi, huaywenandkenneth, happy new year to you.
P3 is first big shock as most parents mention. I think is the home work.
My girl is weak in languages.
I think what shock her the most is the amount of 习字(each topic 20词汇 ). She wrote very slow plus she day dream once there is 习字.Haha !!!
As i mentioned before with those extra chinese works, she struggle. She starts to hate chinese.
Lucky with the help from her chinese tuition teacher n sweet talk to her, she did not give up and score well ( for my standard)
Her case is very unique. Hihi! Big shock from chinese homework.
For her science, she loves the way the lesson was conducted. With experiments and some fun activities via Sam, she learned the concept.
Beside that, she used those common guide book to learn science key words.
Oth than that, she enjoyed her p3 life.
Btw, p3 science is not counted in streaming as this is new subject to learn. -
Happy New Year to you too hopes!
Thanks for the tips. Will brace ourselves for the mountain of homework and CL work then - my son is a hopeless \"potato\" but luckily he works well with tuition and sweet talk (like your daughter
) -
Hi huaywenandkenneth, my son is in P3 this year too! After reading on what hopes shares, I find that P3 is really a big jump with many preparations and planning on our part! Great tips
Thanks! -
Yeah, hopes has been very kind to post such great tips for us.
GemStone, which class is your son in? Mine in 3 Graciousness. Wonder how are the teachers like… -
Hi, dun worry too much. Her chinese homework case will not happen to all if time is well manage.
At first i was so worry with science. However, after sem1, she is in good hand with all experiment and fun activities.
P4 is another new year for me to see how she progress. -
He’s in 3 Integrity, from 2 Compassion last year. Yes I was worried for that extra subject "Science"; since hearing what hopes shares on BTPS teaching style, more or less taken load off my chest! ;D
now need to focus on DS chinese! as he’s still struggling…very weak recognition ;(
trying to find tuition centre for his chinese now… Any recommendations? -
Anyone fetch their kids to and from school?Just would like to know in case of rain, are we allow to drive into the school to fetch our kids?or we still have to park outside the school and wait at the gate for them to come out.

GemStone - DS is with Busybee at Rail Mall. Some parents don't like it as they find there is a lot of drilling. I find it works for him so far
BBEwee - We fetch him to school by car in the morning and the school bus sends him back in the afternoon. When it is raining parents can do drop off in school (but usually the car queue to go into the school is super long during rainy days). What I do is we park nearby and shelter him to the covered walkway leading into the school. It is much faster and he stays pretty dry.
I am not sure about rainy day pickup though. Perhaps another mummy can help you on this? -
Hi, my girl is having a group Chinese tuition near Bukit Batok.
There are a lot of materials. The teacher conducts the lesson in a fun way but yet not forget the ultimate goal -exam!
