tat means they got to reach sch only at 7.40 am?

is later than other sch already rite?
yup, though my dd school bus targets them to be in school by 7:30am (they can stay in the hall and do silent reading while waiting for 7:40am assembly).

py85, OLQP is a single session school and they start at 8am.
Actually, 7.40 is pre-assemly for students to go and settle in. There is silent reading at that time till 8am. That's when national anthem, etc etc starts.
If you arrive a few seconds after 8am, then it is considered late and you will get stopped by prefects outside.

I think it is excellent that they start at 8am.

i agree. 8am is definitely a good time. The girls now start their 6 years and more (!!) waking up so early every morning! Any extra time is good.

btw, is 7.40am compulsory? This week, we have been dropping my gal 10 mins before 8am. We always assumed that the pre-assembly is not mandatory. as long as we reach before 8am is fine. What’s the right understanding?

We were packing the school bag for my gal for today’s class. So heavy…did we have such heavy bags previously in our time?
Any old gals here previously from CHIJ Bt Timah?

            I don’t think the 7:40am is cumpolsury.

not an old girl, but I also dont think they always have to carry that many books… the books will be left behind inside their cubby holes…i followed the list provided by their FT to a T (and left the other books at home). The FT told me that the recommended approach is to always refer to the time table and bring books a few at a time to school and leave the activity books in the classroom.

today, I brought the activity books to school and handed it over to the FT during their assembly, so my dd just have to carry her lunch, diary and pencil case inside her bag.

did you let your girl bring all the books and files listed in the slip of paper attached in the handbook? i packed all the items listed and to my surprise, most of the items were return to my girl to bring home. if it is not needed, i don’t understand why ask the poor child to carry so heavy to school. did any of you face the same thing?

also, does any of you what books to bring for Monday? The timetable only mentioned English, maths and mother tongue subject.

Which classes are your dds’ in? Mine is 1 Charity. She doesn’t have any timetable. She hasn’t been given one. On Thursday, there was a slip of paper listing some books to bring to school. Then today, she wrote down to bring 2 exercise books on Monday.

No timetable at all…I was searching for it.
She also told me the teacher did not give them the 5min break at noon to have a quick bite.

Btw, the iron on name tag. I tried ironing and it does not stick. Is it me? Or does anyone face the same issue? I will be sewing on. (though I had initially wanted to sew AND iron).

HI JUSH, old girl here! 🙂

Yes parents, the 7.40am assembly is compulsory.

to bobianah: Yes ironing on then sewing the name tag will ensure that it stays there.

                    Hi all

My gal oso enjoy school and love the company of her buddy. She brought the books to school and her FT ask her to keepit in the locker. She had the timetable pasted on the back of her handbook.

Anyone attending the hanyu pin yin workshop and potluck session?

I have not get to know any parents from 1 peace. Anyone here from 1 peace? Wan to share contact?

I thought of taking public transport but after the first two days…decided to take school bus coz the weather is unbearable. Can’t bear to let my gal walk under the hot sun w thebig bag to take the public transport.

Today, someone told me that IJ girls tend to be rebellious and become bullies in school when they reach p5 &6. What are your views?

                      Hey bobianah,

flip to the last page of the handbook…the timetable is pasted there…

                      madabtkore,
I followed the slip of paper issued on thursday to pack my gal’s bag. When my gal came back today, actually all the books/files were left in school, except for 1 chinese text book…so i thought its quite good. No more huge load on monday to bring to school. In fact, only 1 book to bring. So it will be very light.
