....what is the use of compo writing when most of us won't be writers of fiction books when we grow up.

Maybe moe should focus on report writing and situational writing instead? Since many of us would end up in some kind of office job and that we need to write reports/minutes/proposals?

...what is the difference between a report/proposal and fiction?
I assume you are asking the difference in writing style for report/proposal and fiction. here's how I see it-

When one writes fiction/narrates a story, one writes to create pictures with emotions - reader can 'see' how the guy is smitten by the pretty girl/ how painful the deed has caused etc through the words used. Words are used to bring out feelings, scenarios etc.

When it comes to report/proposal, it's very factual and backed by data.

For instance, in a newspaper article on hit and run incident, you don't read things like,\"she left in fright\". You see things like \"she left the scene\".

I am not good with writing, these are just some observation I hv picked up.

Am I the only one who assumed that CKS is actually reciting a song....?
Must be lah πŸ˜†

The first thought that came to me was to lure the \"used to be regular\" ones out.

Some of the sec1 exam questions stated very clearly \"No model drawing Method\".....marks will not be given.....

The schs expects them to use Algebra which they are taught to solve those questions....

So irony, right?

The way I see it, as an analogy ,
When my baby was I year old is used a milk bottle but when he is 5 I expect him to use a cup.
Actually if your 1 yr old can start on a cup directly , you don't need to use the milk bottle.

You forgot to add this.

\"and some day later in life, you (mostly the men) will find what you learn as a infant quite useful\"

why when young I tot if I earned $x I'll be happy, only to find later that I'm not?

Because when you were young, the cost of living is this high. By the time you earning $x, the cost of living has probably multiplied.
...

Lol. So we must factor inflation in our computations of our expected personal satisfaction index.

and bcos it'll cost us 5 bucks for a 10 min study ...

It costs more than 5 bucks if you consider the entrance fees. All we saw were 2 inert lumps of black and white fur prone on the ground like doormats. Thank goodness for the hyperactive little red panda prancing around and making all of us go oooo and ahhh.

...what is the difference between a report/proposal and fiction?

Creative fiction:
Once upon a time, a princess met a witch and made a wish for her mother to change to be more understanding but instead got the Queen changed into a bear after she ate an enchanted piece of cake. The King tracked down and tried to kill the bear but the princess was able to save the Queen by sewing back a tapestry of the family portrait and they all lived happily after.

Report/Proposal/Editorial Opinion:
The traumatic events that led to the near tragedy that happened last week must not happen again. The ease by which the Princess (who will remain unnamed to protect her family) was able to locate and transact with the Dark Arts vendor reflects the failing of the Healthy Spells Authority (HSA) to regulate confectionery spiked with illegal enchantments.

The full economical impact may be too early to establish, but there has been significant backlash. Bakery stores have reported a 75% decrease in business in the 3 days after news broke on the events. The confectionary watchdog CASE is pushing for the lemon law, where cakes must be infused with at least 3% of lemon, which is known to counter such spells. \"Like that we have no choice but to increase price lor,\" said Ms Angie, owner of a popular chain of confectionery stores.

Parents are also demanding that the Ministry of Education make compulsory moral education, specifically the class on \"You-Must-Not-Turn-Your-Parents-Into-Bears\". Education experts have also proposed that children be taught model sewing, so that they can mend torn tapestry on horseback as they ride wildly to save their parents from killing each other.
