Yes! My 3 kids are trained to have afternoon nap else they will be v grouchy come evening time :frustrated:

But routine is routine, I don't know whether with this year being the \"big jump\" to P5, will my DD1 still able to enjoy her power nap? Maybe shorten to 30 mins? 🤷

My boy had hmt today. He said ok. Guess we mentally prep him over the holidays or teacher not full speed yet 😓

He reached home at 345pm, tea break, bathe and took a nap. Just started on his work now!
I guess is the mummy who is worry, not the kids.

My DD have no time for nap. After coming back from school, goes to her homework straight away till about 5pm or later. After that will be dinner time, but sleep at 8pm.

Dinner what time? To sleep at 8, dinner at 6? My husband reaches home at 730pm, so I used to have to cook certain dishes in two batches as kids eat at 630. Even if son eats at 630, he finishes at 730! Today he took heavy tea break at 4plus. Gave him lesser rice. He manages to finish his food within 30min. I So happy! As was expecting 45min.

We usually have early dinner at 5plus or 6pm latest. My husband also reach home about 6 to 6;30pm.The kids will always eat first, and I usually don't give them too much rice, so they don't feel so full and can't get to sleep.
Both of them will wake up at 5:50am for school.

They have been going to bed at 8pm since they are very small. So they already got used to it.

                  Pignite:
                  Hi,

Now my question is : Is going to these supplementary necessary ? Do we need to religiously follow the school's schedule just because they are in P5 now and perhap preparing them mentally for PSLE ???

I like to hear from those whose have past experiences esp the P6 mother if these supplementary classes in P5 are important...thanks...

My kid also had supp classes Mon & Thur till 4:30pm. Tues is HMT also till 4:30pm. CCA is held during curriculum time which is good.

Have you all experience classroom environment in school? it is wasting a lot of time. First teacher scolds scolds scolds and if the whole class making a lot of noise, punishment for whole class. Giving out worksheet/exercise books, corrections, takes the entire period.

HMT period is worst, the whole cohort are changing classroom. Malay and Tamil classrooms are usually located at first or second floor. Guess P5 classrooms are at fourth floor. By the time the whole class settle down 15 mins pass by.

The time wasted is those scolding time, making the whole class silence for 1-2 mins, thereafter the noise comes back. Poor kids who disturb the class, sometimes have to stand outside the classroom for the entire period.

since last year, I have tried cutting my gal’s afternoon nap to 30min…this year maybe 20min. Anything longer than 30min, she will be grouchy after waking up…so I rather train her to take short power nap. She comes home around 2pm, so we will have simple lunch, sometimes just sandwich or wrap or prata…teabreak usu fruits or snack - something for her to munch on to prevent her from getting sleepy…dinner at 630-7pm…usu will try to finish dinner by 730pm.

She will have to stay back in school till 4pm on Tues (ECA), Thurs & Fri (for remedial and supplementary). She told me for Chinese supplementary, teachers will teach the class extra vocab phrases for compo, and for the Science/Eng/Maths remedial classes, teachers will give them extra worksheet or complete tasks that they did not finish in class.
In fact I prefer her to stay back in school, at least she does not idle and waste time…when she comes home, she is very relax and always dilly dally…takes her own sweet time to do her homework. In school, she has nowhere to go, and therefore will do her homework in between the classes or while waiting for the 430pm bus to kill time.
the only thing I am worried is that she is not eating proper meal in school. She only eats finger food like nuggets, fishballs for lunch…so I will have to prepare biscuits or cereal for her sometimes…
She told me this year most of teachers are all very fierce…she did not bring enough blank exercise books on the 2nd day of school and she told the teacher who told her blankly to think of a solution herself…she was upset when she came back…I told her she has to learn to find solution herself dun always expect people to to help her…sometimes must crack a bit her brain juice and find solve the problem on her own…hope she will learn to be more indep…
Do your kids have CA1? I doubt mine have…though I wish they have…at least to "stress" her to revise her work costantly…

This year onwards, my kid's sch there is no CA1 anymore for P1-P5. At P6 still have.

Staying in school is also good to play catching, badminton, chess with friends. Built up the EQ.
But not wasting time listening to the teacher scolds other kids.

No CA1 for dd too. I saw her HMT tingxie list yesterday. 😓 Looks like she has to spend a lot of time on it. Sigh.
