Wow.. looks like my family eats late... whwn i was working , they don't eat till after say 9pm as I'm always back after 9...nowadays... 8plus... then they prepare for bed after watching 10pm show... i swear they can watch all shows! My mum watch taiwanese long series.they also watch... sigh...
so i gotta always nag them to go to bed...
My kids don't like to watch Taiwanese show, for this I am lucky
I don't like them watch Channel 8 show @9pm, felt that they use to much of mix language(Chinese, English and sometime dialect). That will make them more confuse when writing Chinese compo.
Btw,my DS MT teacher told us not to let them watch too. -

except for the 'spooky' theme this x-files show or some undesirable language, i quite like the fact that they screen both English and Chinese subtitles at the same time. i can improve my chinese too! i watched the previous one with my son and he enjoyed it. we learned some chinese phrases too and can get immediate 'translation' as the corresponding english subtitles are above. sometimes when the subtitles are not so accurate, my boy would comment too. he had promised to read the CL subtitle while listening to the mix language and i have to trust that he will do it.

Like Jedamum, I find the chinese English subtitles useful too! But I don’t watch everyone… selectively while my kids will just watch with my mum…
Looks like more schools are making the students stay back for classes other than DD school… last tume only higher chinese, now, have compulsory HCL, Math, Science and English ! When MY friend heard… she was like" tot govt want to make PSLE less stressful, but now more classes ! " -
I think the staying back could be the move towards longer school hours when all school go single session next time. With both parents working, they may prefer their kids to be engaged in school than do nothing at home or go student care. I think it is really sad that people are spending lesser time at home and start so young.

In my DS sch, supplementary classes only start in P6. No stay back for HCL. Remedial classes is conducted for kids who are weaker in subj fm P1. Since P1, most homework is completed during lesson, so quite free, actually  .

I guess times have changed… last time when i had single session, my school finished around 1.30pm… then when annual exams are near… then we stay back a day or two with teachers for q&a sessions etc.
Studies getting harder… more stressful for kids… I am trying not to let them relax too much, yet not overwork them… case of balancing… -
gee... looks like all P5 students stay back due to the school load. My boy too, almost everyday sup till 3:45 excepts Weds. For those days he has CCA, he'll come home at 6pm!
gosh! He really has lesser time this year.
Oh ya, anyone's kids went for camp today? Not sure how are they doing as rainning cats and dogs today... :gloomy: :gloomy: and the school didn't even have any briefing for us, parent, but only to the child. We only rec'd letter. I heard from my friend her kids' school gave briefing to the parent :stompfeet: :stompfeet: -

Cca till 6? School team ah?
My boy camping end of the month. They are ordering tshirts now. He looks forward to it and I am so proud that he is pretty independent. Friends play a huge part, I guess.

Your boy school is quality work over quantity.the results of the cohort speaks volume.;-) -

Dunno whether it is quality work or not leh Or the teachers are too busy /sch population is too large (total around 2500 pupils) to conduct supp classes b4 P6. Without sch supp, many kids are taking tuitions outside sch, some even for all subjects. Sometime, makes me nervous :nailbite: for not giving DS 'enough' tuition.. but try to resist the temptation for subjs that he is doing okAtan

Will u allow yr P5 kid to join the cultural immersion trip (China)? I received a form and that the sch is organising such trip (6 days) in the coming Mar holiday. Not sure if I want to let my gal go (she has never been to China). My hubby and myself will not be in town during Mar Holiday.
