Hi
if not wrong yes, afternoon slot is a smaller group. This is a new group which they setup just this jan. small group is good esp for your little one since it's her first day yesterday.rach85:
hi! my girl is rather cheeky. she can hardly sit still when we drive thus i am worried she will move around if she takes the school bus by herself.
yesterday was her first day and she cried. hopefully she can adjust to the school soon. for the afternoon nursery class there is only 6 kids?
im thinkin of registering my girl to this sch. however, im afraid if the academic is strong enough to prepare for Pri1. It seem more like a playgrd. moreover, there too much teachers compare to the rest of the sch since students not alot. any parent worry next time their kids will not be able to get used to \"waiting\" in Pri sch? -

We shd be happy that the teacher : students ratio are low so that students need can be taken care of.
Since he is now in N2...i am not really that worrying. Maybe come K1.
I always think that N1 / N2 is much more of play, enjoying lessons. I was considering Mindchamps presch. They said to provide a very good foundation for students to enter P1.

Yup i like the environment as well. The main reason i place my girl there is because the curriculum helps to build up on a young child’s patience and concentration. Those traits will certainly benefit them.

Hmmm......mummies must understand that school bus service is beyond the school's control. It is not too nice to openly speak of switching schools in a public forum and your child still attending school at the center.
Coming from a lecturer like myself and a parent whose child is in K2, as for standard, i have observed that children who have stayed on in the center since nursery do very well beyond other children their age. The school has a sound programme. But at the same time, the school has taken in one or 2 new k1 and k2 and they are very much behind their peers. You can see on the blog. This shows that other schools that new kindergarten kids come from do not have a nursery level programme as sound.
Why do you worry about primary 1. Isn't the school transparent enough to show you snippets of what the children are doing academically in the classrooms?
Summer Montessori is just one school on its own with no branches whatsoever. This means that they are dedicated to what they do. Teacher child ratio is kept small because the school believes that children need the attention and should not be ignored. Wouldn't it be easy for Summer montessori to have less staff and cut costs? Or have more staff with raised costs to meet children's needs? Do you even think the fees at the school equate to the number of staff they provide?
Teachers are always there to be a listening ear and for the safety and to love your children.
Are you preparing your child for an environment where he / she is not going to be given the attention? Is primary school really as harsh as it is made to sound? Why the pessimism?
Sending a child to a school is not just academic.
She/ he should understand what she/ he learns and if learning is a foundation to support later learning. The child must also have psychological and sociological development that can only be developed in a smaller ratio so the teacher can address problem areas and help children develop confidence.
:hugs: -
It is odd how small ratios are not good while some say big ratios are not good. So what ratio is perfect? Hmmmm…
