hi all, i got 12 points raw and can only minus 2 so i got a net score of 10.

i’m very keen in going to catholic jc as that’s the only school i can go to apart from anderson arts stream (but when i went to the open house for both schools, i felt that AJC is very focused on science and i have not that much interest for science)
however, do you think i’d be able to get in cjc if i put my first choice as catholic arts stream and second choice as catholic science stream, then my third choice is anderson arts?
my school also has no affiliation to cjc so i was wondering if i’d be at a disadvantage compared to those who are in affiliated schools such as SJI and CHIJ as they can get 2 bonus points and usually opt for cjc.
i am very worried as i only meet the borderline cut off point…

          Hey guys,

I'm quite currently in quite a dilemma over where exactly to head to for JC. I'm currently considering RJ, HC, VJ and NJ.

          Results, 2012 GCE 'O' Levels:
          English - A1
          A Maths - A2
          E Maths - A1
          Biology, Chemistry, Physics - A1
          History World Affairs (2138) - A1
          Combined Humanities, Geography - A1

L1R5 Raw: 6; Net: 4 without A1 CCA grade but not HMTL.

I went for the open houses for all the 4 JCs and personally prefer the VJ atmosphere over the rest, especially with their steadily improving results at the A Levels. However, I live in the West, in Bukit Batok, which is really far from VJ (~1hr 15min travel time). If geographical distance wasn't a factor, I'll definitely place VJ as my first choice. Would the travel time make a major difference in JC?

I'm personally a bit biased against NJ, since a few seniors from my school aren't exactly too happy about the overall environment at NJ. Yet, I guess it's the most reasonable choice considering the distance and my net L1R5. Is it true that at NJ, the academic results are often over-emphasised?

I'm considering appealing to HC or RJ, but I'm afraid that if the appeal isn't successful, and let's say VJ as my second choice doesn't accept me, I'll be posted to another school. What are the chances of a successful appeal and what are the items needed for appeal, like testimonials and stuff?
Wow 1h+ to VJ... I think the disparity between VJ and NJ is not so large until that travel time is worth it. Say, if you were talking about NJ vs YJC, then the travel time would be worth it..

Just try! Put as your 1st choice!

Why are your seniors unhappy with NJC?

what i heard from my seniors is that the school focuses on academics alot. but i think that is a good thing. you go jc not to play, is to study. end goal is to go uni right? but i have seniors who say the mugger culture there is not true, is monstly the mainstream students that mug alot, the ip not really.

@Skyed How about if I consider appealing into HC/RJ? Would the chances be high and is the environment generally more stressful?

do u have 3 pts? 3 pts can appeal well esp if you l1 is A1. wat about your cca how? got leadership?
