Hi Kwcllf,

Thanks for your encouraging words.
DS actually did ok with 4 As but just not good enough for people who wanted only elite branded schools and nothing else. Yes, I'm sure my boy will move on. He's very happy in his new school and looking forward to be a part of the Flying Club. 😄

Btw, we have 5 choices for CCAs. DS only got 2 in mind so trying to thinking what other possible options just in case kena posted those CCA instead.

At DS Sec school, students have to do 2 CCAs.

- 1 uniform group MANDATORY
+ 1 performing arts/sports/clubs & societies.

Not sure other schools besides ACS(I) require 2 CCAs. Actually it is not a bad thing if they can cope and UG can also help prepare the children for NS. But then, some children like my DS is not so keen on UG unless \"boh pian\".
Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate.

You are most welcomed!

My DS will need to submit his 6 choices for his CCA this week and we are still having a hard time deciding. His first choice, which is infocomm, was unsuccessful after he went for a selection interview. Hopes he can get into the other \"Clubs and Societies\" CCA as he is not too keen on Uniform Groups.

He is not keen on uniform groups either...given 3 options of CCA. someone sms-ed him last night from the infocomm cca to ask him why he chose this cca and what he enjoys doing. the other 2 options are robotics and art club.
hubby advised him not to take uniformed groups as sat mornings are 'burnt' after marching and practice.
in my Ds' school, only UG like NCC, NPCC, Boys Brigade & Brass Band need to come back on Saturday. For the other CCAs, most have to stay back after school on Friday and if competition is near, there will be additional practice session on other weekdays or even Saturdays.

So, \"suay suay\" if being forced into choosing UG, will choose maybe St John as they don't need to come back needlessly on Saturday.

Did your DS' school conduct a CCA Open House or sort of? This will allow parents and children to find out more about the various CCAs on offer. If not, perhaps you can go to the school's website and search under \"CCA\" what are the choices available.

Guess it's all a trade-off.
Less CCA = more time to pursue other areas be it academic or others
More CCA = more tiring but without that extra time/energy, perhaps the kids will be trained to have more time-management and kept in sch and up to less mischief?? Shall take it as a training ground and hopefully, UG will teach them the value of teamwork as well.

Son keen on Infocomm and robotics…since he will be involved for next 4 years, better take CCA he enjoys. Pref once a week as teachers issued warning…fail any test and they have to attend remedial. Passed Math test (whew!!!)…now waiting to know Eng and Chinese results. Next week geography and literature test…all tests streaming in.

Rmb to choose a CCA that gives lots of points , so you can have 1 or 2 bonus points which u will need in Sec 4 to apply for JC

Yes, there was a CCA open house. But DS not interested in anything else. 🤷
