Am I right in thinking the SG Comprehensions in Primary Syllabus will move towards inference-based questions.


If yes, are there any decent books to be recommended for P2 and P4 and P5, please.

Yup, the syllabus is moving towards critical thinking skills.


I have not looked into the local assessment bks yet. But I gathered from some fdback fr some mummies that local assessment bks do not helped the kids much in inference typed qns.

I bought some bks from RIC publications, (Aust) from one of the mummies’ recommendations.

Just to add on.


Though I like the RIC publications, I think to develop critical thinking skills, need several approaches, cannot just from worksheets, need to solve real-life problems. So I let the kiddos prepare breakfast, do stuff for themselves. For us adults, it’s rather easy to prepare brekkie but for them, they have to be more conscious abt the planning and decision-making. Plus thru conversation need to give them chance to express their opinions.

I’m not putting this across very well. Heehee.

I would think the Ultimate Guide is not a bad choice, covering most components with explanation before each section and the questions are manageable.
