I'm wondering what to join, and I still haven't made up my mind yet.

You're from NYGH is it?
Their entry score's still terrifyingly high this year, even with the drop of results.
I know, I'm actually quite surprised. In my time though, RGS COP was 265 I think. (NYGH was something like 262). It's not THAT high!
Well enjoy your time in High School! Which CCAs are you planning on joining?
So, you're in HCJC now?
Or university? -
Anyone appealing to HCI receive news of the appeal? Can someone share with me what happen on registration day at HCI? Also why you parents chose HCI for your children.

Was expecting a briefing on that day, but there was none. Basically, we registered, obtained a folder containing booklist, 3rd language letter, giro payment, orientation programme sheet, etc. Then we proceeded to buy uniforms and books. Was surprised that a lot of books are optional (including the higher chinese texts).
As to choosing HCI, our preference is a school with \"chinese teachings\" that will inculcate eastern values in DS for the next 6 yrs. Also, HCI is very established in both the Secondary (former Chinese High) and JC (HCJC) sections.
All the best to your appeal to HCI! -

Does anyone know the differnece between Isspark n mainstream in terms of syllabus and pace?father_of_3:
In DSA talk, after the session ends with Q&A, was told that GEP students will be separate from mainstream. The reason: they found that this year Y1 students cannot cope. Looks like it is true.
question - who cannot cope? GEP or the mainstream? -

I saw a difference in the Maths TextBks, heard that some GEP students DSAed in with lower scores than the main cohort; however it appears that that the main cohort cannot cope with the maths syllabus. ---- I am confused --- I would nevertheless like to see a level playing field rgdless for DS in sec school.
No offence but I think GEP have an unfair advantage. -
AWSP:
DSA is about specific talents, GEP or mainstream, there will be cases where those entering via DSA may have lower T-scole. Inevitable cos it is that specific talent that the school wants, but i suppose the scole wont be tht far off. As for GEP kids, the syllabus in P4 to P6 is already quite different from mainstream mainly becos these kids need more challenging stuff to keep them going, else they may get really bored in school... maybe better this wayI saw a difference in the Maths TextBks, heard that some GEP students DSAed in with lower scores than the main cohort; however it appears that that the main cohort cannot cope with the maths syllabus. ---- I am confused --- I would nevertheless like to see a level playing field rgdless for DS in sec school.
