Hi mummies,
Is it true that PCPS is not in the list of schools for the 2012 exam papers? -

Yes, PCPS papers are not in for P3, not even a single paper.

Good then it serves as a wake up call for pcps to work harder to raise their standards as many neighbourhood schools are doing better than them. Their average really not as good for many years… Correct me if im wrong… They never even show clear indicatives of their results. Heard from some mummies during a P1 talk lately that positioning is kind of unimportant during the session but then how does one gauge one’s child since of these statistics are so secretive… Something need to improve, pcps!

Besides academic aspect, i also really hope to see improvements in communication channel.
Did I miss out this info or we have not been informed yet but for P3, is the school still going the Modular Assessments & AA method like P1 and P2? -

Hi Callie

Hi mummy tang
MRLC stands for Media Resource Library, essentially helping out in the library. The teacher is trying to keep him occupied while waiting for vb practice. We just received notification that vb cca is now changed to Thu at 1.30 pm and not Thu. As we cannot make it on Thu, the teacher has kindly offered to allow my son to go for Fri, though fit is meant for p4,5 and 6. Can see that the teacher is v nice and trying to accommodate. She even apologised for the inconvenience when it is actuallu us who is causing all the issues.
Sorry I don't quite understand about the timing for VB training being changed?? My girl is VB but she didn't mention anything... her training is on Thursdays 1.30-3.30...
At first, his vb was on Wed 4 to 6pm. I called up the teacher in charge to feedback that the timing was not good for the pupils. So we received a 2nd notification on 16 Jan that it is now changed to Thu 1.30 to 3.30 pm. But because we cannot make it due to tuition, the teacher allowed him to attend the Fri 3.30 to 5.30 pm. I read that that slot was meant for P4,5 and 6.
When is yr girl's practice? My son is not in the school team. I don't think the school team practice with the non school team, right ? -

Yes, I was there for the level briefing and during the QA time, 1 mummy asked if it's possible to show the mean score in the report book so that we know how is our child performing as compare to the rest of the cohort. However, a male teacher (so call \"lao jiao\" who has grown up children) kept stressing do not compare but I disagree. Without statistics, we can't gauge the child's performance. Is he doing fine or he is actually falling behind the average and needs some support to improve on the grades. I know PCPS is generally a good school but PSLE results are not that fantastic over the recent years as the neighborhood schools are producing even better results. -
I’m from PCPS’s 2012 P6 cohort and for last year, they gave a separate sheet of paper stating the mean, highest and lowest scores for each subject. They also gave a rough guideline to where we stand as they gave the minimum score of the above 75% of the cohort, 50% and 25%. I’m not sure about this year though.

For p1 and p2, there’re no positions shown in report cards. The form teacher will let u know the mean scores of the class if u ask. For these 2 years are the foundation years, the tests or MA set by pei chun are not killer papers. They test on matters that are very similar to the daily work of the students or what have been taught. So u should expect him to score well if he understands his work and has good study habits (which we should be instilling in him) If he does not get high marks, the focus is on whether he can improve on his own scores every tests with his own effort. If he does, we should celebrate with him and not be hard tight abt his marks or how his classmates are faring. There will be full marks by other children all the time. Just my 2 cents worth.
