Ok, back to topic. I think PAP could possibly do better if they had simply re-fielded Michael Palmer. :spank:

          3Boys:

So the policies that WP are proposing do not require taxpayers money?
Why, you are ready to vote for me if I can convince you is it?
Of course it requires Tax payers' money! BUT:

          1) The the oppositions voiced about HOW the money is spent. Ministerial salary is one of them. There is also healthcare and social services. It is about funds distribution. If I remember correctly, only ONE out of the rest of the 80+ (Denise Phua) voiced about Ministerial salary in parliament before. They pushed for it because they felt it was the right thing to do. Of course, talk is cheap, that's what you would say. Try suggesting that at work and see if you get :spank: šŸ˜†

          2) Town councils performance will not be judged based on how much money they get out of the people. Finding out why and how people are not able to make payments instead of sending off legal letters to residents who fail to pay on time. The PAP town councils appraise themselves by the amount of money they can squeeze out of the people, and how they are able to manage the funds with investments. (source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/390407/1/.html) So, who's the gambler here?

          3) The oppositions face difficulties trying to raise funds.
As I understand, they tried to hold a cycling event which was rejected by the police (source: http://sgforums.com/forums/10/topics/276400).

The activities that they propose to be held are deemed as having 'the potential for public disorder and mischief, and may disrupt community life\", while those that are done by PAs are considered \"community services\"? :slapshead:

What are the other events/ activities that are \"not allowed\"?

In his speech at Post Hougang By-election held at NUS, LTK said,

\"The PAP government punishes them by withholding infrastructure development and improvement to the estate.
The Main Upgrading Program and Interim Upgrading Program were not extended to Hougang. As for the Lift Upgrading Program (LUP), Hougang was thrown to the end of the queue. As of today, LUP work has not even started for about 80% or more of the HDB flats in Hougang.\"

          (source: http://wp.sg/2012/06/mr-low-thia-khiangs-speech-at-post-hougang-by-election-dialogue-organised-by-nuss/)

This is what PAP SUPPORTERS CONDONE WHEN THEY VOTE FOR THE PAP - to see other Singaporeans being unequally treated. It is no longer about WHO PAYS, WHO GETS, it is EVERYONE PAYS, BUT PAP SUPPORTERS GET.
          3Boys:
If they come to power they will spend WP money and not taxpayers money on programs?
šŸ˜† This is what some of our dear PAP supporters think. That's why they want to choose a rich dad, not a poor dad, not realizing they are the ones paying. 🤷

            Quite the one-man army 3B ?

            I'll soldier on šŸ†’

My kids also know how to spend money what....they spend all their time thinking about how to. New iPad, long holidays, remote control cars, plenty of creative ideas.

Me and DW need to consider how to make the money in the first place, that where we spend our energies.

Very easy to ride on the coat tails of a strong economy, hor? Get credit for creativity some more, what's not to like?

Edit: reply to your other post, we are certainly getting more populist, and it such a dangerous thing. The PAP are still trying to find that new equilibrium of successful disciplined economic policy with social policies. What they really needed was for MP to have kept his pants on.

I enjoy hearing your \"opposition\" voice in this forum! šŸ˜† šŸ¦†

One step at a time mah, 3Boys! Anyway, your kids are under aged to work yet hor...don't blame them yet lah, don't show them you can afford all these luxuries lah! Spend them more wisely šŸ˜† :siam:

I am not a fan of PAP political tactics either, which is the main reason I voted opposition last GE

But we MUST get out of this 'goodies' mindset, or we will be bankrupt in no time. The WP has yet to show that it can deal with that particular tiger.

Ironically, I voted PAP the last time because I felt that the opposition supporters were getting a bit overboard with their populist demands.

3Boys, why u always on opposite side with me one? :stompfeet:

Please refer to my edited text in this paragraph .

How much return are you getting on government bonds? Got keep up with inflation or not ar?

Maintaining a 4% interest return on CPF funds was one of d reasons I understand for d venture into higher-returns, higher-risk instruments.
Even dat return on CPF has not kept up with inflation, thus d calls to keep raising d CPF minimum sum.
d gahmen has never publicly admitted to using CPF funds in these high-risk instruments.
Even if it does for d purpose of growing d Reserves using CPF funds, why aren't d citizens given returns commensurate with d risks taken?

But of course we r digressing fr d topic of dis thread.

Er... The underlined word, IMO, [investing] is more appropriate lar.

About the part that citizen not getting the commensurate returns... There is NO RISK of our CPF monies, we get back all of them plus interest, with certain restrictions or governing rules.
So, essentially, the CPF Board or the gov have underwritten our CPF monies.

Thus, no risk, 4% return forced-saving I do not mind at all šŸ˜„

This had been the sentiments of some of my relatives who voted for PAP the last time - not because of who they think they are more in favour of, but because of their opinions of the supporters. Interesting. 3Boys also having issue with supporters here..
