Jonathan Lim:
@2911 : what's yr L1R5 score ? ( with and without bonus points )
It seems like your son is also considering between ACJC and NJC. What is his L1R5? Just curious... -
Raw is 8 . With bonus points for CCA is 2 . We put NJC as first choice followed by acjc . Have to take a gamble , hopefully he gets into either school .

Btw why u need to appeal ? If u r doing science course , i know that last year’s acjc cop was 6 ( with bonus points ) , but for the previous 2 years , cop was 7 , maybe last year’s one was an exception . Hopefully it goes back to 7 . But if u want to do arts , it remains at 7

From what i know, NJC's science stream is a partial 5. However, the better schools usually leave some places for good students who do not take Higher Chinese. Your son should have a good chance in appealing. As for ACJC, his score is probably good enough to get into ACJC. I know a lot of seniors who have had a raw score of 10(with 4 Bonus Points so 6) who have gotten into ACJC through JAE. -

Many of the cut off points for schools are partial. RJ/HC cut off is partial 3. VJ science is partial 4. I assume the same goes for most other schools. Because it's partial, the student with the better gross aggregate will be given priority eg. cutoff is 7 points, the student with 9-2 is given priority of 11-4. -

I'm more interested in science actually. Yes, the cut off a few years back was 7. However, it was a partial 7. This means that only some people with 7 actually got in. If two people with the same score are vying for the last vacancy in a school, the next thing they look is your raw score, followed by citizenship and then random balloting by a computer. Its sometimes luck too. -
Yeah the cop is partial . Just have to wait till the 31st

But did anybody go to NJC’s open house ?
