      mummy so kiasu:
      ngl2010:

There are many good news recently e.g. Number of housing is increased, number of MRT lines increased, baby bonus increased, etc. Is it just coincidental or perfect timing? PE by-election so important meh? Just one seat...

The good news cannot wait until National Day meh? Otherwise, there is nothing to hope for for National Day leh....

Baby bonus don't benefit us. Factory already closed lah. Moreover, it is not a long term solution. Bringing up kids is very costly nowadays. How about higher education subsidiary & higher tax rebate for dependents such as children & non working spouse?

It dun benefit you and therefore is a worthless policy? How about you put aside self interest for a minute and see it in the total context of procreation policy?

Aiyoh! Please understand why buyers make the Coe high lar!

Ya lor. Can't just look at the demand of cars. How about government cut down on the apply of COE?

How about buy 2nd hand? Just last week I saw a May 2008 BMW 320i at Performance Motors. 'Only' $101k. Come 2018 you can probably renew that COE for another 10 years for $10k. Or... people can just go buy a piece of paper for $92k. Oh, solli. That category is $96k.

Wait... what dis got to do with PE or reserves? Other than buy that $101k car and drive down to Punggol East to see see look look? :offtopic:[/quote]An expat acquaintance of mine refused to buy a car in Singapore for years and years, and finally got a second hand Mitsubishi MPV. In the meantime his kids took bus to school and he took MRT and taxi. High salary by the way, but no car allowance.

        Chiong COE for what??

On the flip side I know some middle income families with 2 cars! Second one COE at 60+k, consider heng already. Then the guy complain taxes too high.

        Sheesh

You still so sanguine about populism, pirate?

:whut: Me? I may just vote opposition next time because PAP is descending to populism, remember?

Ah, then we need to finesse the message, lest it gets misread. Dun forget, if you throw your hat in with the opposition, it may just come across as a plea for mo money......

Be very very clear to both the WP and PAP that you will not abide populist policies. Stand your ground on debates when people throw all manners of 'spend spend spend' policies. Take part in the national conversation and nuance your message to the powers that be.

Our leaders need breathing space, if they lose your support, they can only surmise that they need to be even more populist. At the end of the day, you need to decide which is the lesser evil.

I have certainly made up my mind. The message was sent last GE, I'd hate for the MIW to over correct.

But I am not happy with something other that populism pandering, which I think is only a symptom of a bigger problem they have. So, how? :?
