Not all schools have this E2k thing right?
So envious of you people!
My boy attended olympiad training or rather workshop last year and he finds it useful as we don’t have math tuition for him. If he can attend science related ones, we will surely let him go. He was shortlistdd for debate selection,but didn’t clear the first round selection. If he does,I will let him attend too. If the school has any activities that is beneficial to his learning academically or holistic ally and he is keen, I will let him go. His dad however feels otherwise and prefers him to concentrate on academic . Ironically, I was the one all study and no other school involvement last time and my husband was opposite - involved in a lot of school activities. -

i tried to google for it. Not much infor. Last I read (not sure how updated is the infor), 27 primary schools offer this program, introduced in 2009(?) I would like to know more regarding program content.

I think this is part of GEP program. For mainstream, it is offered as enrichment to selected pupils.

I would also love to support dd in such programs (even if it is not directly related to academics), but my heart ache when I see her coming home looking so tired :sad: -
I never heard of E2K too.
My ds’s school is ‘who wants to join, welcome’. Train by external teachers after school.
They lined up all the tests organised by NUS high, Hwa Chong, RI and ACS. P5 and P6 are encouraged to attempt. -
Frankly speaking, some schs get outside vendors to conduct these additional courses and at the same time they are also promoting their courses to the students hoping the parents will sign up with their centres. Some lessons run 8-10 weeks in sch and i’m not sure how effective it can be.
This is what exactly happened for my case. dd attended these extra lessons in sch last year and ended up attending in their centres now. -

dd started Math Olympiad last year, and is suppose to continue this year unless we decide to opt out. -

Not effective at all. The whole class complaint the teacher perhaps NS guy, keep on using the word 'shit', 'stupid'. He didn't scold the students but talking to himself.
We had feedback to either to change vendors or change teachers. -
Dd sch has external vendors teaching MO. She loved MO and came home showing me "cool tricks". She and her friends liked the teacher so much that they all went out with their MO teacher for tea during the Dec hols.
She was not selected for E2K. Only students who did well in Sc were asked to go. Feedback fr her friends went was that its very hard. -
What exam is E2K? organised by NUS high? ACS? RGS? or RI? It is science?

DD enjoys E2K as the experiments conducted are always so fun. This year, they will be attending a few sessions of Little Professor on top of their weekly E2K sessions. Little Professor is conducted out of the school and DD can't wait for the first session.Any parents with kids attending Maths Olympaid or E2K training? Can share your opinions/advice regarding the programs? My kid is offered both but can only choose one.
