Synthesis and Transformation books for P6
-
When we asked our DS to do these assessment books, there are some questions we could not explain why the answer is like that. Is there any guide book for Synthesis and Transformation that is detailed enough so we can study it?

The series recommended below is useful as it has detailed notes on the rules of transformation. I used it for two years with students who were weak in S/T and they improved tremendously. However, it's not exhaustive. For them to get full marks in S/T, they must do their grammar drills as well, e.g. they need to be sure of how to change adjectives to nouns and vice versa. This type of exercises can be found in the general grammar assessment books.mceducation1:

What are the exceptions? I suppose it is difficult to find a comprehensive S/T that covers every possible type of question. The exam papers are becoming more challenging and teachers are increasingly trying to vary the questions, because most students can do the easy ones.

My suggestion is to look up the exceptions in a complete grammar guide book or an online grammar resource. You could also try looking at the secondary English assessment books. Perhaps the exceptions are not from the primary school syllabus but from lower secondary material. -

You can find the most challenging ones in the top schools’ prelim papers.

Reading many good books is a way of handling exceptions in English. It’s the most natural way, that’s why STELLAR was born. Otherwise, put the exceptional questions in AsKQ.
