Is it possible to solve this question at all:

The length of a rectangle is thrice its breadth. After its breadth is lengthened by 12cm and its length is shortened by 2cm, it will form a square. What is the area of the square after adjustment?

12+2=14
14/2=7
7+12=19
7*3=21
21-2=19
19*19=361....

Length of rectangle ----- 3u

Breadth of rectangle ------ 1u

After its breadth is lengthened by 12cm and its length is shortened by 2cm, it will form a square.

3u – 2 ------- 1u + 12

2u ------- 14

1u ------- 7

Side of square --------12+7 ------- 19

From here, you may work out the area (19*19).

Q1.
Total age now --> 10+7=17
(41-17)/2 = 12 ...(both grow older by the same number of years)
Their total age will be 41 years in 12 years' time.

Q2.

Mass of (65-40)= 25 sweets --> 3200g - 2125g = 1075g
mass of 1 sweet --> 43g
Mass of basket --> 2125g - 40 x 43g = 405g

Assume all boys donated, total amount --> 40 x $3 = $120
$120 - $30 = $90 --- excess amount to be reduced by girls' donation
Number of girls = $90/($3+$2) = 18
Number of boys = 40-18 = 22
