Agree with beepo. As long as there are useful information discussed and exchanged, I think the forum served its purpose.

According to what I see, many math teachers teaching the Sec1-2s are horrible. More than half my class failed our first base test when I was in Sec 1 :slapshead:

Btw, for those asking about the spellings. In sec 1 we normally only get chinese spelling. And its not often. They will give a worksheet with the han yu ping ying den you have to fill it up. The words can be random or from textbooks, the teacher will inform the class. There will also be another part where they ask you to fill in a blank in a sentence with a cheng yu. Maris Stella will teach us cheng yu in Sec1 but it doesnt usually help alot.

My DS had the maths base test last week, result not out yet. So far he didn’t comment much about the maths teacher except she goes slow with the topics to be covered.
Chinese Spelling does not really enhance much to my DS’s Chinese, learning more of the Cheng Yu will be more important and needed.
This week my DS has 2nd Geography test. He didn’t score in his fist test although he prepared well for the test. I guess he didn’t give the right answers that the teacher is looking for. Hope he improves in his coming test. -

Hi Eriskang,
Is this a norm in MSHS? This can be quite worrying. How did you cope with Maths then? Are the pupils suppose to use only the method taught in class to derive the answer? Strictly no other methods allowed?

:xedfingers: I can join you all here for discussion in 2 years time. This is the target school for my p5 ds. Hoping that he can make it to MSHS via DSA next year. He is excited about the school band and macbook. -

Many students are able to cope somehow. Perhaps through tuition or what. Most teachers will insist that we use their method. I'm still doing rather badly for my Math and I'm hoping to pull it up this yearEriskang:
