Myanmar maids
-
My Myanmar maid really cannot make it these days. CNY first day broke the zip while zipping up my 3yo’s chongsum (so got to find another dress to wear out for visiting), and CNY second day burnt a hole in my 3yo’s dress she was ironing. I didn’t blow my top since it is CNY (phew phew phew phew).
I wonder what is going on… she has been with me for close to 9 months - not the most dainty finger helper but 2 dresses in 2 days is definitely not normal. She was a transfer maid and worked for her previous employer for 9 months too, before she transferred out. Anyone had similar experience? -
I once had a 7 years experienced maid in Spore who came to work for me but she burnt a hole while ironing my blouse in less than 3 months and tore my blouse while hanging my clothes in the next month. So yours is 9mths experience right? Things like that will happen regardless of experience. I don’t really bother about clothes burnt, Hp usage, off day as long as she gives me what I want I will close my eyes. Of course if she doesn’t meet her KPI and still slack and make the same mistake repeatly then need to reconsider.

All my maids had at some point in time damaged clothes but only one offered to compensate as it was new. I rejected but exaggerated the costs and told her that I understand she was here to work for the sake of her family and would not want her to be working for free for the month since I can see she was serious about her work, …
She was grateful and was careful thereafter.
Rest of the maids hid the damage and always get bad scolding after I discover. -
A maid who is resistant to learn cooking…fussy with food.
Last night, mum told me the maid is refusing to eat bcos food is not to her liking. Looks like this Myanmar maid cannot last 6 months.
Brother is so mad bcos maid broke another Corelle bowl.
I kept all my Corelle utensils when I had maids…used Ikea ones.
Now that I have no maid, I use my Corelle and also bought matching cutlery. -

:rotflmao: She's fussy about food, but can't cook? Then you ask her what she likes and cook that for her. i.e. Be her maid.A maid who is resistant to learn cooking...fussy with food.

I have an ex-colig, who became her maid's maid when she's not working and during the weekends. Why? The maid will actually tell her, \"Mam, I wan to eat curry chicken tonight.\", and my nice colig realli cooked it for her (and the family).
Whenever she's at home, the maid will refuse to cook. Even when she's on MC, end up she's the one cooking. When the maid is not feeling well, the maid gets to sleep the whole day and she has to do the housework. -

My SIL is the one cooking...that maid is complaining bcos dishes are too plain for her liking.

Your SIL is too nice, maid climbing over her head liao.
I buy canned food, fish, chicken wings and instant noodles for the maid to eat when we eat out. My mum cooks on weekday but weekends are spent on the road due to tuition so she has to cook for herself. We always tell them they can cook the chicken wings and fish in whatever way they want but they are lousy cook, so always turn out quite bad. Even they eat less than the normal amount when they have to eat their own cooking. In the end, they stick to canned food and instant noodles.
I always remind my maids that they are not indispensible. Everything they can do, I have done it previously and I can do it better than them and they have seen me do housework, so they know it is true. They also know I will not keep them if they cannot value add. -
if the maid can cook well, also got prob.I once hired a Filipino, she can really cook, coz she learned cooking skills for her ex-employer.
But...she can cook=she can eat.
what pissed me of...i bot her frozen chicken. She didn't eat frozen chicken.Instead cooked n fed my son frozen chicken n she ate fresh chicken.
bot her ntuc bread, refused to eat n prefered premium brands.Ate my kids' gummy bears(multivitamin).asked her to take care my kids, but always end up cooking in the kitchen.
gave her 1week supply of meats+vege, she finished in a day.The rest of weeks, ate maggi mee...then complained to neighbour maids i only gave her maggi mee.
i even let her go to agency n asked her to look fr. employer.Yet,she chose to bk to phil, reason she couldn't find employer without children or elderly.
