Qn 1. Mary had 350 more trading cards than John. After each of them received 50 trading cards from their cousin, Mary had three times as many trading cards as John. How many trading cards did John have at first?
Qn 2. Wendy bought an equal number of apples and oranges for a party. The apples were sold at 4 for $3 and the oranges were sold at 3 for $2. She paid $5 more for the apples. How many fruits did she buy altogether?
Qn 3. Bala opened up a book and added the page numbers of the two facing pages. He found the answer to be 119. He then decided to multiply the page numbers of these two pages. What is the product of the two page numbers?
Qn 4. Ali had $190 more than Baba at first. After Baba had spent $50, Ali had 4 times as much money as Baba had left. How much did Ali have at first?
Qn 5. Charlie and Mr Brown had the same number of buttons. If Charlie gives 500 buttons to Mr Brown, Mr Brown would have 6 times as many buttons as Charlie. How many buttons did Charlie have at first? -

Qn2. Chandra and Tricia had the same amount of money at first. Tricia then spent $14 and Chandra received $20 from his parents. In the end, Chandra had twice as much money as Tricia. How much money did Chandra have at first? -

How many times will the letter E appear up to the 999th position?
Do I take 999/6, multiply by 2 since E appears twice then plus 1 as there is a remainder meaning E appears 1 more time?
90 = 15 x 6
999 = 150 x 6 + 15 x 6 + 1 x 6 + 3
So there are 150 + 15 + 1 \"STEVEN\", and that will take up 996 letters, the next 3 letters are \"STE\".
There will be 166 x 2 + 1 = 333 \"E\".
999/6 = 166 R3
166*2 = 332
332+1 since there is another E from the remainder of 3. So answer is 333 -
Multiples of 4: 4,8,12,16,20
Add 15: 19, 23, 27, 31, 35
Multiples of 6: 6,12,18,24,30
Add 3: 9,15, 21,27,33
Common number is 27. -

3. implies that n must end with 8.
Smallest multiple of 6 ended with 8 will be 18.
Ans: 18 coins.
Condition 2 should be (n - 2) is multiple of both 4 & 5, so n must end with \"2\".
Answer: 42 coins -

multiples of 3 --> 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21....
multiples of 5 + 3 --> 8, 13, 18, 23....
alternate approach:
If we remove 3 candy bars, the remaining number will be divisible by 3 & 5.
The smallest number that is divisible by 3 & 5 is 15.
The number of candy bars = 15 + 3 =18
