When is a good time to start the kids on e-dictionary? I chose to teach son to use the hard copy last yr, as he had trouble recognising the words… Dunno if he will hav issues adapting later on

The e-dict I'm using is a free app [KT-dict] I downloaded from App Store. There are higher rated ones but I'm used to the interface.

My colleague explained to me the traditional hardcopy dictionaries are better bcos they give deeper explanations and better examples too. I agree. But for convenience, we make do with the iPhone.

P3 kids would be asked to get the e-dictionary…these can be brought into the exam hall…of course it would be best to rely less on it as time is taken up when checking for the character. The KT-dict app on the iphone is really effective…my friend recommended to me and now I use it frequently.

My son's HCL in sec sch is driving me crazy!!! :faint: think will give up soon ... :xedfingers:

My son's normal Chinese in sec 1 is challenging...so I can imagine how tough HCL will be.
There is 成语，and then the comprehension and cloze also tough. Today's CL test had 3 comprehension passages. I will be relieved if he can pass it...first CL test. Sorry, off topic.

For my younger one, i'm using handbook to explain the meanings. Published by SAP. It has explanations in English as well as 造句，词语搭配.

Hang on.

It will get better with more practice.

My elder boy's HCL grades plummeted to slightly above 50% by end of sec 1, climbed back to 60% in sec 2, now maintains at 70% to 80%.
