I find myself visiting your thread more and more. Keep it up Dolphin, thanks for those advices on old age, especially the part on getting along with the children and their families.

We bring much suffering upon ourselves because we always think other situations, other choices, other people are better. Now in this world where we have a myriad of choices as consumers, we are always wondering if we are having the best deal. We end up miserable missing out all the wonderful present moments. Here is a video from TED.COM on the Paradox of Choice:

a great reminder to us that 知足者常乐。

Some of us stay away from meat due to diet or religion commitments.

Eating less meat also help to generate less pollution.

So for a Better Health and Environment Eat Less Meat!!!

            Bon Appetit!!! :celebrate:

I would like to gradually, very very gradually convert my family, especially my DH and me to eat no meat. Every time I clean meat in my kitchen, My conscious ask me what if this slab of meat is from your body, what kind of trauma and pain would you have had? Then I just suppressed it by mentally pushing the thought away. :siam:

Other than this reason, I also think the meat these days are not healthy for human consumption as they contain residue of hormones and antibiotics injected/fed to the animals. Also they are not happy because of the very stressful living condition they grow up in and they they pass all these negative vibrations to us when we eat them.

Dolphin, any lobang for support group for people to learn vegetarian cooking?

Watch this good documentary : SuperSize me

Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock makes himself a test subject in this documentary about the commercial food industry.
After eating a diet of McDonald's fast food three times a day for a month straight Spurlock proves the physical and mental effects of consuming fast food.
Spurlock also provides a look at the food culture in America through it's schools corporations and politics. \"Super Size Me\" is a movie that sheds a new light on what has become one of our nation's biggest health problems: obesity.

This film was shown on ChannelnewsAsia 2 years ago

Food, Inc. is a 2008 American documentary film directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Kenner. The film examines corporate farming in the United States, concluding that agribusiness produces food that is unhealthy, in a way that is environmentally harmful and abusive of both animals and employees.

The current method of raw food production is largely a response to the growth of the fast food industry since the 1950s. The production of food overall has more drastically changed since that time than the several thousand years prior. Controlled primarily by a handful of multinational corporations, the global food production business - with an emphasis on the business - has as its unwritten goals production of large quantities of food at low direct inputs (most often subsidized) resulting in enormous profits, which in turn results in greater control of the global supply of food sources within these few companies. Health and safety (of the food itself, of the animals produced themselves, of the workers on the assembly lines, and of the consumers actually eating the food) are often overlooked by the companies, and are often overlooked by government in an effort to provide cheap food regardless of these negative consequences.
