Understand that the Principal is giving a generic opening statement. Then the parents were divided into respective class with the FT.If you need know more individualised info regarding yr child, must arrange separately appt with the FT or the subject teachers. If the FT teaches all 3 subjects then it is easy to get info. Any parents can share their experiences since the sch had removed the Meet The Teacher session where I remembered in 2010,2011 there is.

I went to yesterday PTM session. I went with good expectation that finally the school is doing something right... They had arranged the PTM on saturday which the childrens are not affected. Logistics-wise is ideal ( more staffs to handle parents movement ). And, they had included a text-box for us (parents) to express our concerns or questions we like to hear from the teachers on the reply slip. I was like \"WOW-ed\". They are making vast improvements to engage us parents in-depth.

P2 and P6 started with parents going for the \"classrooms\" session first. My DS is in P2 and hence we parents are advised to go to the child's classroom. Mr. Paul Tan was there to direct the traffic. P4 parents started with the principal opening session then followed by the \"classroom\" activities. Parents movement are very organized.

Many parents alike, wanted to know our child's development in their academic areas and social aspects. We wanted to know our child's strengths and weakness. However, the school removed the individual (1-to-1) session. Instead the teachers run through the Curriculum. So basically, we parents are \"going back to school for a day\" to be educated on what our children are being educated in.... 😂 interesting huh

I agree with Titank, it will be impossible for us parents to arrange single session with the FT and MT. I requested a session with the FT and MT for my son to have my burning questions to be answered since last year. And, the answer i got was its difficult to get the teachers altogether for an update. So, to dear RMPS principal, we parents are expected to resolve this issue ourselves btw teachers and parents? How about those parents who are working? One thing for sure and chop-stamped is that the teachers will be fast and immediate to feedback to you if your child is not performing to expectation behavioural-wise. 😂

Then you are being invited for a principal seminar on \"Every school a good School\" echo-ing the MOE minister's famous tagline. Why not echo-ing \" Every class a good class!\"; \"Every child a good child!\" ??? Then the school should scraped \"best class\" where the students are taught high ability maths and science. Then the school should scraped having head girl/boy. Each child should be given equal opportunity for leadership. Also, scraped entirely prize-giving or excellence day where the students are \"forced\" to support those who are prizes-winners!!!

What they failed to realise is that the school are educating humans and not mass-production of \"robots\". Every child is different, every class dynamics is different and every school is different! What we parents like to know is the strength and weakness of our child in academic and social aspects so that we are able to motivate them in areas they are weak and support them on their strengths. So, by scrapping the \"ONE-2-ONE\" session, we parents had no way to reconcile with the teachers. So at the end of the day, its one-way communication flow. :rotflmao: see a similarity here?

Despite being highly dismay by the school style of engaging parents, I decided to do some \"+ve\" reflective thinking. This is my outcome: \"I got to spend 3hrs without the menace of my children.\" :imcool:

            ezn cia,

You mean the burning questions is that the school not able to get FT & MT to meet you on a single day & time slot? In that case, would they able to reply you by email?

The school will not be able scrapped the top 2 classes since from P3. This are like the ones 为校争光。It seem like a yearly prize giving event if the child is in the top 3, top in Eng, MT, Maths or Science or top in level.

Can anyone share when the ISH (Indoor Sport Hall) is ready? It was schedule to be ready in 1 Jan 2013 but heard now there is a delay.

Good question, the First FT belongs to \"old school\" who refused to access Email stating no email address. Then comes along another FT for the second half semester who is younger and better but cited need time for her to access my child. For MT worse still, changed 3 teachers in just 1yr 2 months. :faint:

真的吗? 为学校争光!!! 哪,拉丁马士小学“光荣”是否就是靠这80-90名小学生咯?? :slapshead: I am more inclined to say that the top 2 classes of students are grouped together based on the childrens' ability to learn more. These are what set them different from others. But not necessarily translate into them being more capable/successful and be given so much attention on.

I don't know when the ISH will complete. But, I do know that the school library's upgrading is near completion and is considered safe for the students to go and borrow books. Hooray for my DS!

Wat made u say that? Mine next week...not worth to go?

                Dino mummy,

If you had attended last year's session, it's no different this year.

In fact, for the P4s, the principal's talk took up more time than scheduled, so much so that the teacher's session was delayed. Coupled by the initial hiccups with IT at the start of the principal's presentation, parents were left wondering when that session would ever end. :snooze: 🦆 :siam:

The Meet-the-Teachers session are held in their own classrooms. Like what ezn cia mentioned, there are directional signs everywhere. The school has put up posters to inform parents which blocks and floors the classes are. So, there shouldn't be any problem.

A couple of parents were so \"engrossed\" sharing their concerns (not sure whether those were also their children's concerns) that the teachers' session took longer than scheduled. The form teacher started by saying, \"we are five minutes late but don't worry, I will give you your due duration.\" However, one hour later, there was still no sign of ending. What they should have done was to let the teachers finish their presentation and talk to the teachers privately after the session ended.

Ha ha....let me help you \"highlight\" the important question so that the principal can, hopefully, address this issue this Saturday. 😉

Like what the principal said, for every weakness, if you look at it from another angle, it becomes a strength. :scratchhead: :slapshead:

I was hoping there will be some differences this year. I attended all the past years MTP session, from 1-1 to mass session. I din "take back" much last year, I took that was an opportunity for me to visit DS classroom. Only then, I realised he was the model pupil for that mth last year. I took a photo of that "poster with his face" for his dad to view:> Only then, I realised the chairs are oin poor condition, the construction (upgrading) was very noisy…At certain pt of time, I couldn’t hear wat the Teacher was speaking despite he was using a "mike".

My DS1 teacher actually told my DS1 that I dun need to attend if I have no issue, asked me to go to my DS2 session instead. But I want to hear fr both DS 1 and 2 teachers…and qns from the classmates’ parents.
I recalled last year, there was a discussion on how much homework was given - some complaint not enfg while some preferred not too much…Like a mini debate…quite interesting.

Maybe all of us need to get use to this new Principal management style. The changes I knew was tbe 1to 1 MTP and frequency of notification. I think for sure the kids from P3 are in a bigger class,it maybe 40-46 etc.

Can anyone share the summary highlights by the Principal?Any slides woukd be share at the school website?
