May i know how you registered ur girl under wait list? Went down to the school personally? And how long was the waiting time till the school confirmed? Can the student make the transfer in the middle of the year or the student have to start from a fresh new year?

If you go to the school’s website, there usually is a section where you can download the waiting list forms. Fill that in and email to the school together with the kid’s results (scan into pdf). If you cannot find the form, give the admin a call to ask.


Some schools may also require a written entrance test. I have seen kids joining in the middle of the year if there’s a vacancy.

no need to inform existing sch wrt intention of transferring.
just go to your waitlist sch to fill in for form and bring along copies of transcript etc.
only when being informed of a vacancy and you go down to waitlist sch to collect the letter of transfer, then go to your existing sch to make the necessary paperwork.
by informing existing sch of intention to transfer, you will subject your kid to undue stress and judgement by peers and teachers.

Yup, don’t ever inform in advance until you get the slot at your preferred school. It’s like you don’t tell your boss you want to resign until you find a new job rite? hehehe


Once you get the letter of offer, accept first then you need to take the letter of transfer to your current school to get their admin/VP to acknowledge your reasons for transfer. Normally no questions asked if your reason is distance or for convenience.

Once signed by both sides, your current school will return you the report book and you take all these things to the new school. The new school will keep the report book as it records the past results of your kid.

Word of warning, get your kid to buy in to the idea first… lots of crying coz he will miss his friends.

Oh, but if you need to show Innova the past results and you don’t have a copy of the results with you, you may then need to request from the admin to lend you the report book. Then no choice but to be open about it. But stress to them that it is due to distance that you are thinking of doing the transfer.


Or you could also show them the exam papers if they are with you.

Thanks for the valuable advises. You r rite, #1 not buying my idea for the transfer, he likes his existing school very much. We r in the dilemma, to transfer or not to transfer. We r happy that he is enjoying his study, and glad that he gave us his opinion.

In order to give the parents convenient, why not we give our kids freedom? Personally, I like innova so much, such a colorful school and Dare to Dream.
It might be difficult for us to register #2 in my dream school as we are staying between 1-2km away. Ballot for sure. Rite?

One bad experience with any teacher or friend or school system can break your kids ‘love’ for the school. Some kids are also generally not so acceptable to change. If you are still keen to transfer him for logistics reasons, you probably kick start the wait list first. Then decide or consult him again when you got the letter of offer. A couple of experiences, one was that kid felt going to school became not so fun when best friends transferred out or withdraw to go back to hometown. The other one, loves the pre school so much that want to go back to study, but now two months into p1, couldn’t decide if he loves preschool or primary school more.
Possible to secure pv opportunities for your #2? If yes, you should probably let #1 know that you decide to try your dream school for #2 for any reasons other that that it is your dream school. This may make #1 feel better for deciding not to change.

I was more draconian about it though… I finished all the paperwork already then broke it to him… lots of crying but it stopped with some counselling and sweet carrots dangled in front. I must say he recovered from the shock very quickly and adapted well. You gotta also know the personality of your kid, whether he is good at making new friends etc.


If you really want your dream school and have ease in logistics, just put your kid on the waiting list, no harm.

Thanks both, i will buy urs idea to put #1 in the wait list first, after all it’s depending on the school availability. If really got the offer, then will try to put sweet chocolate dangled in front, hehehehe.


Another concern, the student care. Understand that innova has in house SC, is it with any quota? Or any SC near by? Ytd after work, we make a trip to the school surrounding, couldn’t find any SC near by. Any suggestion?
