maybe i should hang out more with intelligent parents here...so that i become more intelligent...like shaking watermelons to assess how juicy they are :rotflmao:

OT: juicy watermelon are usu. less sweet in flesh.

Intelligent pple will also hv some shortcomings ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would be more keen to have my kids hanging out with hardworking friends.

It makes a world of differenceโ€ฆesp my elder one who is in Sec 1.

          Chief, Buds :thankyou:

I have always believed that having empathy and high EQ is more important than just having high IQ.
I've seen my fair share of scholars and PhD holders in office. High IQ, low EQ and zero empathy. Totally cannot work and connect with people. The last thing I want is for my DD to be like them. It's ok if she can't be a scholar and a PhD holder. But she must be able to show empathy and work well with people and help those around her. I think I am beginning to see that I have rubbed off my believes on her ๐Ÿ˜„

I do hope i have been (a good role model) of someone resilient instead of submissive and a loser... of someone brave enuff to fight for / protect the ppl she loves... of someone who doesn't falter at first sign of challenges or troubles... and of someone who doesn't run away from reality but instead face up like a true woman. Why woman? Cos some men hor can't even man up leh..

            Buds,
thanks for sharing ur inspiring experience :rahrah:

Budsโ€™ new avatar will cause road accidents or bleeding noses if some men surf KSP.

Not necessarily mutually exclusive. Can be a scholar with high IQ & EQ plus humble & filial

                        You are welcome.

The friends our children (and of course ourselves) hang out with can influence the nature of how they grow. Not necessary to mingle with only the high iq or the elite.. a good mix will be a good balance.

I grew up in a rough neighbourhood... but that does not mean I need to be a product of my environment. It does take some maturity apart from just mingling but my take is there is not just one absolute way of making children smarter.

The word smart itself has variations... book smart... street smart... etc...

                        So..

A balanced kid with both relatively good iq and eq is the ideal by my book.

Good kids aren't easy to come by... especially these days. So I'm fortunate for the ones I have. :please:
