        KSmom8:

Hence, my \"temporary\" stint as SAHM seems to be more permanent unless I \"upset\" the equilibrium now. Actually, I'm already starting to feel restless now that DS1 is in sec school.
I can already forsee the restlessness once my kids go to secondary schools. Because of that, my husband prefers things to remain status quo for the moment. On one hand, he worries about me getting tired from working (part-time). On the other hand, he feels my presence at home all day has a 'stabiliser' effect on everybody. After all, I will have a lot of time when our kids are in secondary schools. So, 'working' can 'wait'.

Back to returning to the workforce, would you mind starting from the bottom all over again? For me, one alternative is to start at the bottom (if company is willing to employ me). Since you have been coaching your kids, how about joining enrichment centers or even starting your own tuition groups? One mother quit her accountancy job to stay home and coach her kid during the critical years. Thereafter, she started a tuition center for secondary school students. I am contemplating tutoring too. Friends advised secondary school students are easier to handle compared to primary school students. So, I may have to revisit the secondary school syllabus.

Aiyoh ladies, I went gallivanting for three hours yesterday you know? Didn't chiong leh. Like many SAHMs, i too like flexibility to do stuff. I don't keep to a specific schedule and don't think i can. :skeptical: Most planning (of anything).. if any, are done in my head. πŸ˜‰ Because there is no specific routine to bore myself to death with, i can afford flexibility to work around the hours in a day. This way, i won't get easily upset if the day doesn't turn out as expected because there can always be a back-up plan. Spontaneity is something that can make us SAHMs more fun peeps instead of the perceived boring, frumpy housewives others may think we are.

I settled sweeping, mopping, folding yesterday nite... so the boys and i chomped on a Mac Donald's b'fast (delivery) this morning (while ingredients for today's menu was left to thaw). After b'fast, i let the boys watch an educational dvd and i whipped up a quickie in the kitchen. After cooking http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=966523#p966523, bf-ed the boys and they took a short nap... now that the girls are back, i'm getting my kids ready to go out. Thursdays are excursion days for us. DD1 has violin lessons in the west (where we used to reside) and i gotta bring all four out to send her for lessons after which we will have snacks before going home for dinner.

Today, i sounded my Daddie out to find out if he could do the run for today. He said yes (he had nothin' on this afternoon) so i've just texted my friend if she was interested to go out for a couple of hours... Cut the story short, i'm goin' hi-tea with my girlfriend later. We just confirmed with the hotel oni. :please:

So ladies, we moms always gao tim everything for everyone but we must remember one important thing.. to take care of ourselves as well. Our family's daily happiness index depends on our moods ... when mommy is happy, the whole family is happy. The feeling transcends positively to everyone top down.. cos being SAHM we are at the top of that leader board.

Lookin' forward to dressin' up nice and go binge. Because it's one of my closest girlfriends, today's hi-tea is gonna be a bitch and binge session... (a term coined by schweppes) yeah... let it all out! πŸ˜‚

So my SAHM friends... LOVE YOURSELF TODAY!

....... and every other day of course! Ciao!

I don't mind starting from the bottom again, but will employers take me seriously? I will be 50yo, will have been a SAHM for 17yrs and my contemporaries I started out with 25yrs ago will be in very senior positions. As a result, I'm not planning to return to the same profession but rather hoping to do freelance work (prrofreading, editing, 'words' work) as maybe age will not be such a sensitive issue. I would prefer not to do tutoring or teaching as I don't intrinsically like teaching, and I've had to partially homeschool for the past 10yrs already and don't want to do more if I can help it.

If i were to return to work (which i cannot wait to do!)... what i mind is not so much starting from the bottom, but more abt having a fixed routine and early morning wake-up calls. :frustrated: Don't think 9-5 is my kinda thing anymore. πŸ˜‚ Too pampered with SAHM lifestyle, own time own target. πŸ˜‰

Nothing special...he had back to back conference calls till late last night.
But hey, thanks for the wishes...but reading your post on organizing everything and then having girls' out really made me feel less than adequate. You...a mother of 4...can handle so many tasks :salute:

It really is a tough decision to make. Discuss with hubby...it involves him and kids.

if u've someone to help taking care of ur kids & job is ok,think it is beta to continue to work.

I enjoy working than SAHM. When i was FTWM, i found fulfillment fr job achievement n socialize wf colleagues.

Being SAHM,at times, i feel sense of emptiness(despite i busy most of times)coz i am alone most of the times.I also don't feel appreciated esp,my son keeps picking the food i cook.DH rather watch TV or surf nets.

Even I was wf DH,he is a quiet person n we don't share much of conversation.I miss chatting wf my colleagues.

This is just my personal view.I am sure there r lots more mummies here who find more fulfillment as SAHM.....
