one of my students from Pei Hwa, he is in the first class, all his subjects are very good except chinese, but chinese still not bed, around 89, he told me 50% students got above 95...... 89 is below average... omg, I can not believe, although I taught in another school for several years, and taught so many students,( I am his tutor) but Pei Hwa is so 竞争激烈。I can not believe....
You seem like you are advertising...hope I am wrong...this is a thread for pei hwa parents to yak. -

Can't imagine his year-end score after his weakest oral and compo. :faint:
I used to worry too which affected my sleep = my mood the next day = my health = my relationships with family members
I tell you - the worrying is not worth it.
Life is too short to think about worries, whether real or unfounded.

My P6 boy told me his Science paper score, did well for MCQ, so-so for section B. Last year, he failed section B. So this is considered an improvement, after taking into account we only managed to cover in details 3 previous years topics and skimmed through 2 previous years topics before CA1.
Agree... My boy totally lacks exam skills, i m juz thankful i hav a few more yrs before psleJennifer:
To get a good score in test papers, the pupil needs to:
1. understand the subject
and
2. have good examination skills
Last night we resumed our Science revision (his Science teacher wrote that we need to start revision for previous years topics in the letter to parents, hence my boy is more receptive to my coaching). Surprisingly, he was more cooperative and willing to pen out the answers rather than verbalization when I rejected his request to verbalise answers as I reasoned that his section B results clearly showed that more practices are required.
I am thankful he is willing to practise exam skills.
Of course, I should also be mindful that last night might be a one time good natured session from him. Maybe other nights he would be less cooperative. Whatever the case, I should be reminding myself to stay calm, not clam

Last night before I slept, I tell myself . \"Hey this is not PSLE\" and I felt better.
will buy one assessment book on synthesis for him to practice. I just have to tell him if he didn't do well means he has to work harder.
To all parents, CA1 is only 10%. So room for improvement till year-end. :rahrah: -

Teachers in my DS's class have stopped providing info on how the class fare such as highest/lowest & ave class scores, to the pupils. Think they don't want to stress the pupils further.. -

[/quote]Wow, started revision already! My boys are still in play mode after the CA1.
Need them to get started again during the holidays...
I was also a bit worried about my elder son's science before CA1 because he seemed under-prepared to me, but surprisingly he did very well. Just hope this continues for the rest of the year (but be more prepared next time). -

...but after going through PSLE, i understand what many have told me earlier...PSLE is more important since it is the first major exam after 6 years of primary school. The worries and stress of CA/SA before that is quite unnecessary and not worth the white hair.

Any P3 or P4 parents managed to open the slides for the presentation made by the school recently via Lead portal?I can only open the Maths Department slides.

Revision is only a small fraction. Each revision session is less than an hour, and we do not revise everyday either. -
