If the marking rubics is similar, shouldn't the teachers teach the same 'way of answering', be it CL or HCL? Are the CL students missing out on something here? I always thought the difference btw the 2 is that HCL is more ''cheem' n therefore requires more 'powerful' mandarin 功夫 to 接招
I have heard that both subjects emphasise on different aspects of the lang but nvr bothered to find out the differences...
Frankly, I myself am pretty lousy in CL, so I just let my dd self-study most of the time. This time round, I did help go through her 笔记 with her the day b4 the pprs. I gave her the word/phrase, she'll try to remember how to write it, the hypy n 造句。 Then I went thru the 同音n 同型字 as well as 反义词 of these words. However, my dd will tell me she doesn't need this part for 1 ppr or tht part for the other... so maybe the differences are those? Perhaps if your child can tell you the differences, it can be of some help to him/her too?
Anyway, our target for her CL is pretty low, so she did well in our eyes. I looked through her pprs & HCL does have 'cheemer' words generally & very complicated answers for compre...

Ano thing abt my dd's CL lessons, they are very intensive n she has MOUNTAINS of hw (习字，笔记，练习，听写 n 记一记 r ultra difficult) everyday for just this one lang. The teacher really drills them & gives all kinda 成语谚语 and sayings during lessons, whether they understand or not. She'll come home & ask me abt them, so we gotta check dictionary or google abt them. This is the only subj which they hv to stay back once a week to continue the lesson! Very siong... :faint:

My son told the maths paper easy,number of qns reduced than the standard paper.30 mins for paper1. I don't understand some teachers set the paper harder while others set easy in the same school.Haven't see the papers, so cannot tell,english is harder or not.But teachers prepared the kids for facing a drop.My son is ok if he get a pass.
Is your DS CA1 Maths paper structure something like this -
MCQ 10 questions
Short answer questions 5 questions
Long Answer questions 7 questions
Total 22 questions = 50 marks
Paper2 -8 qns -30 marks
Total 50 marks -
