Those same labradoodles are being advertised at Cold Storage notice boards too. $2800 is not expensive for labradoodles. And they are hypoallergenic and are unlikely to shed, depending on which genes they get. They're super cute. Especially the big ones that look like big teddy bears. They're very friendly but can be rather exciteable. šŸ˜„

Thought I’d better qualify. I think some pet shops get their labradoodles from more reputable farms where the dogs are not ill-treated and the parentage is better. So price is higher for those. Right now, if I were to get a dog I’d rather adopt or rescue. Too many dogs being abandoned or put down.

          Thank you for sharing.

Saw the newspaper article on the pet farm and the dogs that are left behind. Sad.

I'm interested in adopting. Any ideas where I can look for some dogs to save?

There are a few organizations which are active in this. Check out the facebook pages of Save our Street Dogs https://www.facebook.com/SaveOurStreetDogsSOSD?ref=ts&fref=ts and Voices for Animals https://www.facebook.com/VFASIN?ref=ts&fref=ts . There are many others around.

The news article was published in The Sunday Times 17th March 2013. It mentioned a volunteer-run-group Voices for Animals (founder is Mr. Derrick Tan) and that this group holds adoption drives a few times a year.

Last Sunday adoption drive was at Mutts and Mittens located at 11 Pasir Ris Farmway 2.

Thanks, Jennifer! The facebook page a bit confusing... need to spend sometime browsing, but it's great to know there are such dedicated animal lovers out there. It took me a long time to get over the passing of my 15 year old companions, to the point where I don't want to get another and go through the pain of losing them again. But yes, those Dog Whisperer episodes kept reminding me of the happy days when the rascals were still prancing around, so I'm thinking about it again.

In addition to the links I posted above to Save Our Street Dogs and Voices for Animals, here's another group that helps rescue dogs and adoptions: Homeless Dogs Rehomers https://www.facebook.com/homelessdogsrehomers

There are many feeds everyday from these facebook pages. There are that many dogs that need homes.

It'll definitely be more wholesome to adopt and save those in need then to bonk $2800 on a puppy..

Upz for all the kind animal lovers out there.. šŸ˜‰
