mummychia:
Thanks mummychia. I was looking at metro too but was quite concerned about the carpeted rooms. Were the rooms musty? My kids are quite sensitive to dust. Other than the carpets, I have no qualms about choosing this hotel.zeemimi:
we've decided to go free and easy in korea. can i find out which hotels you stayed at while in seoul? trying to zoom down to a few reliable hotels. thank you!

there are many hotels to choose from depending on your budget. Last year I stayed at metro hotel in myeong dong, this dec i'm going back there again. I like the location & room size fits my family. Airport limo bus stop is just a stone throw away, very convenient. Another popular one is ibis hotel also in myeong dong which u can consider. -

But most hotel rooms are carpeted. Actually you will be surprised how clean korea is. The rooms are clean & spacious. My boy has sensitive nose that leads to asthmatic cough but when we were there for 9 days he did not even cough at all. However when we are bk, the cough returns. -

Thanks -

for all the wholesale shopping, its all at the Dongdaemun only? My friend introduced me the Eastgate Tower Hotel which is nearby the wholesale shopping area but they are temporarily closed for reno. Any recommendations within that vicinity? -

i took asiana on my last trip, its a midnight flight & unfortunately we didnt sleep well onboard esp my elder gal, so even though we reached early in the morning, we couldnt do much as all of us are totally stoned. checked in time was ard 2pm so its quite tiring to tahan till then. so my next trip in dec, have decided to take SQ morning flight. Scoot has just started their flight to seoul so u may want to consider if u do have budget constraint.
yes for whoesale shopping its in dongdaemun & namdaemun. U can check out Hyundai residences, Western Co op residences & Uljiro Co op residences. These places are near dongdaemun. -

I only booked my hotel & have not done any detailed planning of itineary yet as just back from HK last week, but will start soon. U can consider the places that I have visited during my last trip :
Gyeongbokgung palace & Gwanghwamun square
Garden of the morning calm & Nami island
Cheonggyecheon stream
Lotte world
Everland
Pororo park
Noryangin fish market
Trick eye museum & Hongik free market
Dongdaemun market (toys & stationery street)
Namdaemun market
Places which I intend to cover for my upcoming trip
Coex aquarium
Kidzania
Insadong
Seoul Tower
Namsangol hanok village
Korean Folk village & Suwon fortress
Gwacheon national science muesum (for dinosaurs & space shuttle)
Jimjibang (local spa & sauna)
Will revisit Garden of morning calm for the winter lightings
not forgetting Lotteworld again
as its nearer compare to everland and shopping in myeongdong, namdaemun & dongdaemun market.
initially wanted to visit the ski resort for snow sledding but hubby not very keen to break up our stay in the hotel & the journey to the ski resort is quite far. anyway there are plenty of places to snow sled in seoul. we changed our mind for jeju & busan too since its winter i guess nothing much so decided to stay put in seoul again
